Mathilde looks stunning for a woman who just gave birth. It's nice to see her husband, Phillip, looking quietly content with his expanding family. Congratulations to the couple and the people of Belgium.

I know that Prince Phillipe has been criticized in the Flemish media on a variety of concerns, but no one can doubt that he and his wife have created a loving family.

Somehow I cannot stop wondering, why the country is divided while they have a royal family that is sweet and solid Sad

No kidding, Luna. I was a mess days after the births of my kids. She doesn't even look like she gained any weight! Cute family.

It's too bad, though, that his dad was so rude to his half sister. The proper thing to do is to quietly include her. She should not  have gone to the media though. And if dad won't make a gesture, her half siblings should.

This is asked way too much I´m afraid. Delphine´s half siblings have to deal with their own miserable childhood and their complicated relationship to their parents as well. Paola and Albert have been pretty much absent parents. There´s a strong rumour they even left their small children alone with their nannies on Christmas. If anyone of the current european CPs around has a good reason to cry out loud about his upbringing it´s certainly Philippe, who prefers to shut up and never complained. All these extramarital affairs of their parents caused so much pain, I can completely understand if Albert and Paola´s children don´t have the strength to make a gesture. I also think it was quite difficult for Philippe to see his engagement period being overshadowed by Delphine´s revelation or to get married by a mayor, who is the former lover of his mother, etc. pp. And if they make a step towards Delphine openly, they would also undermine Albert´s position.

And back to Eleonore and her cute family. I am incredibly happy for them, especially for Philippe who got over his unhappy childhood days and creates a warm and loving home for his children. And his kids seem to love him dearly.

Elisabeth and her siblings will grow up happy, quite in opposite to many generations of crownprincely children in Belgium before them.

Paola had some extramarital affairs as well in the 60ties and 70ties. One of her lovers was the politician François-Xavier de Donnea, who was mayor of Brussels in 1999 and thus conducted the civil marriage of Philippe and Mathilde.

Yikes I knew that Queen Paola had some affairs in the past...but not that interesting story. Thank you, tintin!

tintin-When did the King and Queen "make amends" with each other? They seem to have pulled it together for the later part of their marriage. I'm sorry to hear that their children were treated in this manner.
