They're the same, the pendant pearls are from another pair of earrings. The version with the smaller pearls suits Kate's more delicate style. Thanks for the photos, Peeds, I noticed the earrings right away.
So - “ same but different”? 😹 Yes, indeed.

The top portion is exactly the same. I’m not sure Kate sound wear such a close copy of something her MIL wore?

They look very similar except the pearl is smaller.
Different size, different drop, AND completely different attachment (I don’t know the term). I much prefer Kate’s! The metal/diamond part is from one earing set (Diana top/left) and the pearl drop from the other (Diana-bottom/left). Kate combined both into the earrings she is wearing.

They are Diana’s earrings and pearls. Not a copy. She just switched the pearls to better suit her style. They are her/Williams earrings now along with other pieces she wears from Diana.

I’ve had a close look. They are completely different??? Diana’s have a “fern frond” division in the top part and what look to be sapphires. Kate’s is different and no colour. Diana’s drop chain incorporates a sapphire. The claw and pearl are of course completely different. Fave jeweller clearly made both pairs. Or maybe I am seeing things!!!

The photos aren't the best, but there were no sapphires in the original form. I think what Kate's done is remove the emerald cut diamond and chain along with the bigger pearl, using just the top part. I see what you mean about the fronds, I think the photo angles are giving that appearance, though. I don't know why she would have copies made unless they were bequeathed to someone else and Kate wanted a copy. Seems unlikely to me. Sorry to hijack the thread, maybe we should move this to one of Kate's fashion threads?

Richard Eden @richardaeden
Lovely gesture by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to invite Arthur and his wife, Martha, to travel in their carriage. Arthur lost both his parents during the pandemic. His father, Lord Vestey, would often ride in the Queen's carriage. #royal #RoyalAscot2022
Ascot Racecourse @Ascot Royal Ascot Carriage List – Friday, 17th June 1st Carriage The Duke of Cambridge The Duchess of Cambridge The Hon. Arthur Vestey The Hon. Mrs. Vestey 2nd Carriage Mr. Peter Phillips Ms Lindsay Wallace The Duke of Bedford The Duchess of Bedford
3rd Carriage The Visount Brookeborough The Viscountess Brookeborough Mr. Darby Dennis Mrs. Darby Dennis 4th Carriage Mr. Richard Osgood Mrs. Richard Osgood Mr. Nico de Boinville Mrs. Nico de Boinville
Why is Lindsay Wallace listed as Ms? I have not seen a lady previously referred to as Ms at Royal Ascot.

I'm in my 30s and never married and I use Ms. and that's how most formal things like wedding invitations are addressed to me now.

Kate is giving me My Fair Lady vibes. I'd be so terrible at Ascot, I sweat way too much for the dress code!
I find the dress to be sooo Pretty Woman with the colours and morals reversed! I love the look! Pretty Woman was my first thought too - maybe a dig at someone else’s PW effort at the polo? I am getting strong MIL vibes too.

When Ms was first coined, it was for married women who had kept their maiden name - so no longer a Miss (unmarried) but not Mrs (as in “wife of”). In this case it would be because she is still using her married name, but no longer married. It has definitely morphed now into more broad use, especially for older, never married women.
