I note the article says that Prince Andrew asked the Countess of Derby to give his girls some tips.  What a shame she didn't include fashion tips in her little lecture.

"Cazzie" Derby is a tall, slender, slightly rat-faced beanpole - the York girl's figures would be as comprehensible to her as those of little green ladies from Mars.

Funnily enough, I was a spectator at the Countess of Derby's wedding.  She was born the Hon. Caroline Neville, daughter of Lord Braybrooke, whose family built our local stately home, Audley End.  Cazzie was married in the enormous and very beautiful parish church in Saffron Walden, Essex - which was also coincidentally the venue for the marriage of Princess Alexandra's son James Ogilvy.(His wife is from the nearby village of Arkesden). The church is the size of a small cathedral - ours was a very wealthy parish in the 1400's -  and considered highly suitable for aristocratic and semi-royal weddings. So when the Earl and Countess were married I lined the church path along with all the the other gawping locals.

It was a very grand affair, feeling rather like the last hurrah of the ancient feudal system. The reception was held in the state rooms at Audley End house I remember wondering at the time whether the guests knew that the family had long since sold out to English Heritage and were actually living in the stables! The main money-making attraction at Audley End (apart from the house itself) is a miniature steam railway that runs through the wooded grounds. It is the personal hobby of the current Lord Braybrooke - at Christmas they put up a sign saying "Santa Express" and he drives the trains himself dressed up as Santa Claus.

Yes, those three gals' outfits look horrible.

Is Eugenie starving for attention now?  Seems like she is doing things to attract just that!

What a sad and fashion impaired event when an octagenerian quite effortless and by far leads the "most attractive" 'most elegant" and "most suitable" lists.
Zara: she looked horrible, face, hair and hat absolutely perfect but completely ruined by her outfit:
Who would voluntarily choose a skirt with such a high waist and pair it with such a blouse? Her appareantly enormous assets seems to rest comfortably on her waist, enhanced by the distasteful bow, anybody else getting this strange vibe:

Do your boobs hang low?
Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie them in a knot?
Can you tie them in a bow?
Can you throw them o'er your shoulder
like a continental soldier?
Do your boobs hang low?

As to Mr Bea, the talking horse: Neigh very nice outfit, did you get it from the womans department at talbot mature?

Gawd !....those York sister are alsmots as fugly as the Spaniah Infantas

Elena and Christina went throught their "less attractive years" at about the same age as Eugenie and Beatrice. They've both become much more elegant so perhaps there is hope for the York sisters. Perhaps a royal "What not to wear" intervention from the Infantas could be helpful. "Ay no! Necesitas un otra camisa chica!"
Ah...the miracles wrought by plastic surgery!

She is!

That being said, I think she is just too good looking for him.

Unfortunately he is so ugly, that probably even Prince Charles would have been too pretty for him....

You're so sweet Hug

The third day of Royal Ascot and it seems some people were betting on if the Queen would wear a hat or a fascinator!

Autumn Phillips makes her first appearance at Royal Ascot in a carriage, as well.

The Queen generally only wears fascinators if the event falls across the cusp between afternoon and evening. For many years she was only seen in a fascinator at the Chelsea Flower show, where she would occasionally appear at around 5pm - this meant the visit counted as an evening engagement, but as it was semi-formal she could not appear bareheaded.

Before fascinators returned to fashion, the Daily Mail was obliged to run a virtually annual explanation of her scanty Chelsea headgear - the little bits of fluff and feather were thought to be most odd.

When Prince Edward married Sophie Wessex, it was a 5pm service and ladies were requested to wear evening dress. This was all very novel , but clearly meant NO HATS and the Daily Mail tied itself in knots trying to work out what her Madge and the Queen Mum could possibly put on their heads. (As it wasn't white tie they couldn't wear tiaras.) Anyway, they both appeared in exceedingly substantial feathered fascinators, which satisfied both modernity and habit.

Autumn Philips looks like the hat fell on her from the sky and she did notthing to try and place it in a fitting way. Very dowdy look

Zara has such a beautiful face but as Miss Peebles says she does not seem to have come to term with her Windsor Body, which is not bad by any stretch of imagination but she does everythign to make it look as short and brad as possible

Here is the other "Queen" I love her and wish she would teach the Windsors a thing or two about dressing
