Thanks for all the photos everyone and thank you Miss Peebles for your wonderful titbits of information! I've certainly learned a lot more about our Royals thanks to your posts. Love the hat as well!

The Queen looks magnificent and just highlights how little style the younger generation seems to has. Princess Haya looks gorgeous (as always) and for once isn't wearing something frumpy! Motherhood really suits her.

I just have to gush about Helen Mirrens hat and generally she always looks smashing and knows how to dress her figure better than most royal in her age group.

Im so so tired of all the Philip Treacy hats worn by the british royals (minus the Queen) there must be other milliners that can make something nice as well

I was just thinking, Ladies Day at Ascot would have been the perfect day for Bea to have worn her butterfly headdress that looked out of place at the Phillip's wedding.

I think you are right about that, autumn!!  The butterfly hat would have been much more appropriate at Ascot.

Well, then she would have had to compete with this butterfly hat.

Hi Michelle!   Smiley

Much as I loved your beautiful photo, dear little Binky makes me laugh

Helen Mirren looks wonderful.

It hasn't taken Autumn Philips long to fit in, and dress the part.

I was a bit shocked that the Queen actually looked quite tired and dare I say "old"? NOt that therer was anything wrong with her pretty blue ensemble, but look at her face. Confused

I agree, she does look a bit washed out.  Do you suppose the bright light shining through the blue straw has anything to do with it? She certainly seems to be wearing rather a lot of pink foundation.

I suppose though that for a woman in her eighties she has had a terribly strenuous week. Trooping of the Colour on Saturday, President Bush on Sunday,  Garter service on Monday then three consecutive days at Ascot!  The Queen loves the races but Ascot week is also when she does much of her private entertaining for the year  - she hosts a sit-down luncheon party every day, has house guests at Windsor who dine formally in the evening, and all her journeys to and from the course are public events.   Most women of her age are knackered by a trip to the chiropodist.

She needs to be settled in a deckchair with a gin martini and a sensational book. Correction... I need to be settled in a deckchir with a gin martini and a sensational book. Her Majesty needs a nice rest at Balmoral - which, happily, is on her schedule soon.

If you happen to know a sensational book, please share, I'll be willing to provide the gin martini and some chucklet truffles...

Skip on down to image #3 for an interesting photo of Bea.  Poor girl...if it's not an unflattering bikini it's her teeth.  She has to learn that less is more, especially in public.  'Uge looks more than a little like Carmen Miranda, that old South American movie star who wore a turban stuffed with bananas, oranges and pineapples.

Some would say itís the result of a captive breeding program.
Others think this creature gets territorial when cornered by curious onlookers in small enclosures.
The only apparent means to sedate this rare specimen is to administer French champagne and distract it with either large quantities of food or deafening rap music.

Did Kate and Chelsy not attend Ascot ?  I would have thought Kate would have showed up at least once to have her picture taken.
What about Kate's Mum --- do we know yet if the Queen really invited her, or was the entire thing made up by the media??
