I was a bit shocked that the Queen actually looked quite tired and dare I say "old"? NOt that therer was anything wrong with her pretty blue ensemble, but look at her face.
I agree, she does look a bit washed out. Do you suppose the bright light shining through the blue straw has anything to do with it? She certainly seems to be wearing rather a lot of pink foundation.
I suppose though that for a woman in her eighties she has had a terribly strenuous week. Trooping of the Colour on Saturday, President Bush on Sunday, Garter service on Monday then three consecutive days at Ascot! The Queen loves the races but Ascot week is also when she does much of her private entertaining for the year - she hosts a sit-down luncheon party every day, has house guests at Windsor who dine formally in the evening, and all her journeys to and from the course are public events. Most women of her age are knackered by a trip to the chiropodist.
She needs to be settled in a deckchair with a gin martini and a sensational book. Correction...
I need to be settled in a deckchir with a gin martini and a sensational book. Her Majesty needs a nice rest at Balmoral - which, happily, is on her schedule soon.
