That is nice of him to keep his commitment to Kate and it also reveals a bit of the personality behind the woman. I would think that Kate would realize that having William escort her to this very important day in her cousin's life would cause a huge media circus. Wouldn't this really just ruin the event for her cousin? Does Kate care?

Well, mind you, "a friend tells a British newspaper" is right up there with "a source close to the Prince/Princess/Palace." This could well be pure invention. The subtext of the article seems to be that the couple may (or may not, who knows, so stay tuned and be sure to keep your subscription renewed) still be somewhat together and so it wouldn't hurt to keep reading the tabloids for yet more - um - news.

I don't think it's true that they are back together.  Especially after Kate and her mother were subjected to a constant barrage of negative stories seemingly 'issued' from William's circle and he didn't seem to do anything about it.  IF they are back together, she is, for lack of better words, stupid.  This would just justify my suspicion of her.

Well, she defintely shouldn't go back with him unless she has an engagement ring; if she's does, she is foolish and most likely, will go through more agony/hurt.

And really, they haven't so-called "broke up" for long and now they're supposedly spending time with one another and she's keeping in contact w/ Harry & Chelsey?  They need to seriously break up without and contact, for a year, otherwise it's just torturing them both in the end -- esp. Kate.  And, she really won't be getting on with her life.

Stay tuned!  He certainly didn't say anything about her on the Matt Lauer interveiw with he and Harry.

I don't think this "break up" was ever the real deal.  William wants his mothers birthday celebration/concert to be the highlight of this summer.  To do that, Kate had to go on the back burner in the public eye.  I think the break up has been nothing but a public relations ploy.  Once Diana's celebrations have passed, William and Kate will be back on, most likey with an engagement ring on her finger by next spring.

It would be clever if William broke up with Kate because he felt the relationship would overshadow Diana's concert. Its so hard to tell what is going on with these two! Kate really didn't seem that devastated about the breakup, I wonder what that was all about?

There was a report this morning on the news that Willaim and Kate are together and that they never did actually broke up --- and we will soon see wedding bells. Don't know how true this is!

I don't think that would be possible.  Kate was always expected to attend Diana's memorial concert.  So why would they have this fake break-up in the first place?  If anything, the break-up was bigger news than the concert!

If it was a public relations ploy, then it was a ridiculous one.  The media dragged her and her mother through the dirt once a wedding wasn't in the cards.   Kate was labeled a gold-digger waiting for the ring and her mother a Mrs. Bennett wannabe with no supposed social skills whose profession as an air stewardess was being ridiculed by WILLIAM'S circle.  Why go through all that?  It's dumb.  Plain dumb.  If they can't handle the pressure of the press, then they shouldn't be together in the first place.

I simply think that William sees this as his mother's last big event.  It is the 10 year anniversary of her death, and this is all about Diana; no one else.  He does not want it to be about his girlfriend with all the press speculating that she is the next POW.  I think William can handle the press pressure, but this is for his mother.  It's her party, not Kate's.  If Kate is to become his wife, she will have the rest of her life to be center stage.  We'll see what happens after the Diana events are over this summer.
