The design, IMO, also seems to belong to someone tall and statuesque. I get that this is basically concept art but the woman in the sketches has long legs and proportions closer to a young Queen Margrethe than to Mary Donaldson in 2004. Actually, the Queen would have rocked this wedding dress design (even when I love her own wedding dress as well). On Mosh, somehow it just doesn't work.

The inspiration for Mary's dress was Margrethe's gown. But what worked on Margrethe didn't on Mary.
Margrethe has a tall, statuesque figure. Mary doesn't.

The fabric was not the best for the chosen cut either. Too heavy, the weight of the train ( those stitches on her back were awful !) was pulling it backwards and the panels on the skirt should have been totally attached to the lace underneath instead of barely pinned to it.

To be fair to Mary it's a very unforgiving design.

There is just way too much fabric on the skirt, it would have been a lot better being just a plain sleek skirt. I do like the colour though and ofcourse the best part of the day was Mary's bitchy expressions.

ITA - the designer was executing way too many elaborations at the same time: calla lily sleeves, unique neckline, panelled ballroom skirt, long train...

Indeed, it's too much in the same dress. Valentino and his co workers showed how it should be done in 2002 with the wedding dress of Maxima:

I wonder if this was taken before or after Christian was taken back to the hospital after he was brought home?
