Prince Charles will be going to Japan for the enthronement

He also went to the 1990 enthronement of Emperor Akihito. With his then-wife Diana.

It might be a bit weird for him: the same ceremony but attending with a different wife, 29 years apart.
And he still is the king-in-waiting as he was back then...

She doesn’t travel well.  Typically for tours she arrives several days in advance to rest and even then often limits her engagements.  The enthronement is a quick trip with just 2-3 days in Tokyo.

I read somewhere that Grand Duke Henri is going as well (no mention of MT so I would assume she is skipping it due to her fear of flying)

In this case it's understandable she stays behind, but still sad.

Btw I googled a bit and found out that today is Prince Hisahito's 13th birthday. I want to wish him a very Happy Birthday and not to much stress in the future. I admit that I've a soft spot for him. He's not going to have it easy.

In what appears to be a school uniform:

So true. And he looks so young. I hope they'll let him live his youth.

The Empress Emerita had surgery today :

Good to know Sayako Kuroda was able to see her mother. I'm always wondering about relationships between actual and former members of the royal family.

Princess Kako is making a 11 day official visit to Austria on the occasion of 150th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Austria. The Princess arrived in Vienna yesterday. On September 16, 2019, Princess Kako visited Sisi Museum at Hofburg Palace in Vienna. The Hofburg is the former principal imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty rulers and today serves as the official residence and workplace of the President of Austria.

I always feel badly for the Japanese family particularly the women. Do stiff and formal.

I love her kimono 😍
As well the way they dress, it's maybe stiff and formal, but always elegant and modest.
