Second day of snow here in North Texas.  About 8" so far.Thank goodness not any wind so no power outages.  Hubby concentrating on breaking pond  ice to water cows and getting hay out.  Haven't seen the barn cat but he's eaten the food I've put out in his barn.  It's so beautiful....now it can melt and be gone  Wink  Not a snow bunny at all!  So much for healthy eating in the new year LOL  cheese & onion enchiladas last night for dinner.  Snare

Watching the scenes from California.  Unimaginable, just so tragic and horrible.  I hope all our dishers and their loved ones are safe.  When I read how much the fire budgets have been cut (mayor sent a memo to cut more $49 million just days before fire)  It makes me furious and sick.  JMO she should resign.  There needs to be Congressional investigation and punishment for malfecence, it's just unbelievable!
My sister is seeing similar snow fall amounts in Hot Springs Village, AR. Her photos looking onto the golf course are beautiful.  Fortunately,  they prepped for snow and won't need to go out this weekend.

As for LA, there will be many inquiries in the coming days regarding budget cuts and priorities.  Our firefighter neighbor said it was very chaotic and their supervisor never responded to radio calls in the past 60 hours. He's taking a 24 hour break but will be back there tomorrow in Topanga Canyon.

GOODNESS he hasn't responded in 60 hours?  That's troubling, is he all right or just busy and overwelmed?  Tell your neighbor, prayers from Texas, those guys/gals are heroes!

They don't know why their supervisor never responded.  Sad
I'll pass on your good wishes. When he arrived at his in-law's home this morning, I happened to be outside and went over to give him a big hug. We spoke for about 10 minutes. His wife was on her way in from Riverside where they live and I'm so glad that they will have a little time together today before he heads back to the station tomorrow.

With NOLA getting nine and a half inches of snow yesterday, they officially have more than double of what we've had in our little part of northern OH.

We're on the last day of bitter cold polar vortex weather, it's supposed to actually be above freezing on Sunday . . . oh happy day!

Mother Nature cannot make up her mind here. On Monday it was -48 C, and yesterday was -4 C. Today is -14 C.

We missed the snow but 19 mile an hour wind @ 27 degrees makes for cold days in this 100 year old farmhouse  Yikes  2 pair of socks, long johns, flannel PJ bottoms, sweat pants, long john top, flannel top and 2 sweatshirts with hoodies up, 2 blankets, 2 cats and a dog...still chilly.  Supposed to warm up by Friday, it'll be above freezing.

Feel sorry for hubby,he's out breaking water on the ponds and feeding cows.  We lost a mama and her baby overnight.  She died giving birth then the poor little thing was alone for several hours.  Tried our best to save it.  $1400 vet bill.   Breaks your heart.

So sorry about your cow and calf CoC.  Cry

Another fire has broke out earlier today in the LA area. The fire in Castaic, north of Santa Clarita, has already scorched more than 5000 acres and evacuations have been ordered.
