I’m up in Dallas so I’m safe. My parents live on Bolivar Peninsula beach house on second row.  Last ferry out last night and they are safe in Austin. My cousin and family stayed which is so stupid and I’m worried.
Everyone hold on to their hats. It’s going to be VERY bad   Sad
Thank you for checking KC

Prayers going out to everyone in Laura’s path.

It’s 91F here, with an air quality index of 160, so we are mostly staying inside.

Just got power back here, we had/have a powerful windstorm blowing through with dry conditions and heat. Lots of brush fires burning even in the lowlands, one is about 5 miles from my youngest daughter's house. No danger to her but eight people lost their homes when a power line blew down in the winds and started the fire.

Wow!  That sounds awful.

I see that another gender reveal party is responsible for the California wildfire raging now.

This is the suburbs, we almost never have fires down this low. They're popping up all over today, I've lived here over 40 years and never saw anything like it. https://komonews.com/news...mid-south-sound-windstorm

We have airflow coming in off the ocean now so it's much cooler but the smoke is awful. The air is a dark grayish-yellow and really hard to breath. No birds, hardly a sound. Eerie. Hopefully rain on Monday/Tuesday but for this weekend this is what we've got. I'm stocked up on everything so no need to go outside except to water plants and check on the bird feeders. Still it's beyond depressing.

Right, it's all those damnable leaves' fault, if only they'd quit laying around and get a job...48 more days...

Quote
"Maybe we're just going to have to have them pay for it because they don't listen to us. We say you've got to get rid of the leaves, you've got to get rid of the debris, you got to get rid of the fallen trees," Mr Trump said on Thursday.

"And they just don't want to listen. They mocked us when I said that. You got to 'clean your floors', just an expression, clean the floors, and they have many, many years, decades of leaves, dry leaves and everything. That's why they have it."

It rained a little last night, only enough to get everything damp and dirty from smoke. Air quality is a smidge better every day but we're supposed to be hazy all week. Luckily it looks like they removed the lightning from the forecast for Thursday, that was the last thing we need.

Here in Germany we've just had our hottest day of this year. So no winter in sight
