I don't think this would be very smart of William to do. Kate is a young attractive woman she should be going out and having fun. But when it is deemed that she is milking her position as William's ex too much this same set of social "elite" will dump her fairly fast. She is only an "it" girl until William says she is not.

Or is the press just trying to convey that impression?

When she was going out with William, there'd be photos of her shopping one day and then photos of her shopping three days later, and the articles would carry on as though she spent her whole life shopping and was some sort of pathological spendthrift.

i meant the partying and looking drunk after the clubbing. there were lots of pictures after the break-up of her showing her undies. this is what paris and lindsay do most of their picture time.
