ANDREW DENTON: Yes. What did... When you first met, what did you see in each other? CROWN PRINCE FREDERIK: What did we see in each other? We saw... Well, it's a bit hard. It's a bit blurry, in a way, because it was just after the Olympics had started and it was one of those evenings where...

I suspect Max's hair is so damaged from her years of bleaching it that she shouldn't try to let wear it loose at all any longer.

It really does look so much better in a bun, chignon or updo or even with a hat. Get a trim!

News item | 24-05-2024 | 20:20
“We sadly learned of the death of television director Rudolf Spoor. He had a loving eye for historical moments with a personal charge and knew how to portray them with great expressiveness. Working with him from the 1970s until our marriage – his last major job – was particularly warm. We are grateful to him for this and wish his family a lot of strength with this loss.”

It is nice and they look great. I was just wondering: the Dutch were playing in the EM tonight - was nobody there to represent them?

The Dutch team played yesterday without royal support, so it seems. Usually, Willem-Alexander does not really bother until they succesfully passed the group stages

Yes, you are right. It was last night. Well, he could even learn from Frodo in this point :-). It would be nice if parts of the family showed up for something "normal" like soocer.

So far he is the only royal hat hasn't showed up at the EM to support the national team, William, Fred , Felipe and Philippe did. Hopefully he will come for the next game, it isn't that far from the Netherlands to Germany.

I find Amalia extremely beautiful. I just wished they developed a more public profile of her (like the Belgians or the Spanish RF).

Ministers and state secretaries of the Schoof cabinet sworn in
The ministers and state secretaries of the Schoof cabinet were sworn in at Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague.
The ministers stood opposite King Willem-Alexander during the swearing-in ceremony. Then one by one they went forward to say “so help me God Almighty” or “this I declare and promise”.
The ministers may also answer in Frisian, the second national language. The new Minister of Agriculture, Femke Wiersma, and State Secretary Folkert Idsinga of Taxation and Customs did so.
The new cabinet consists of 16 ministers and 13 state secretaries. In addition to the non-party Prime Minister Schoof, there are five ministers and four state secretaries on behalf of the PVV, four ministers and three state secretaries on behalf of the VVD, also four ministers and three state secretaries on behalf of NSC and two ministers and three state secretaries on behalf of BBB.
The formation lasted 223 days. That is relatively long, but not a record: the previous formation, that of the fourth Rutte cabinet, was only ready after 299 days.
After the swearing-in ceremony, the landing scene followed. Then the ministers and the king had their picture taken.
The new ministers will have to develop the 'main lines agreement' into a 'government programme' in the near future. The leaders of the four parties all remain in the House of Representatives.
As usual, all ministers of the previous cabinet, led by VVD member Mark Rutte, were resigned "in the most honorable manner". That cabinet has been in place since January 10, 2022. It fell a year ago after a disagreement about asylum policy. Rutte was Prime Minister for almost fourteen years: he took office on October 14, 2010.

Former Prime Minister Rutte receives a high award from the king
Former Prime Minister Rutte was appointed Knight Grand Cross in the Order of the Netherlands Lion by King Willem-Alexander last Tuesday, according to a publication in the Government Gazette. He is awarded for his services to the country.
This is the highest distinction in this knighthood. The award is rarely presented. It is not known when the ceremony will take place.
Among those who were previously appointed Knight Grand Cross in the Order of the Netherlands Lion are former prime ministers Ruud Lubbers and Willem Drees. Royalty such as Princess Beatrix and the British Queen Elizabeth were also awarded. The same applies to some foreign leaders, such as former German Chancellor Angela Merkel and former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
Last Tuesday, Rutte handed over the keys to the Torentje to his successor, Dick Schoof. He will succeed Jens Stoltenberg as NATO Secretary General on October 1.RED: The "Torentje" (tower house) is a building near the Binnenhof in The Hague. It is located in the Hofvijver, next to the Mauritshuis. The Torentje the office of the Prime Minister of the Netherlands.
