It's so nice to see Maxima out again.  I am always so impressed by her.  She is so clearly more than just a pretty face plastered on the front of a charity cause to sell tickets and get media attention.  She is an intelligent, educated woman with something to contribute to complex issues and this to me is so refreshing when so many other CP's are just ribbon cutters (not naming names - do I really need to? Wink)  You can plainly see by these photos that she is participating and not just "showing up" to smile and have her photo taken.   Thumb up

Good to see her again! Lovely outfit too. Champagne
I love it how she seems to find causes in which she can also use her expertise on matters of finance...

The coat seems a tad too tight to me.  It's straining to meet across her bust and waist.  And why oh why doesn't she ever use hairspray to keep her hair in order?  She'd look so much better without that flyaway hair flopping all over the place.

What was going on here? BTW do we have a "caption this" threat? Grin

Hanzo, I don't know what you found wonderful in her appearance. Her outfit (could have been great) was bursting at the seems, her hair in dire need of a new root touch-up and the hairstyle was a bit too casually "just combed thru" for me, however I salute her for at least having combed it.

Another btw, I was somehow wondering why everybody is raving about how wonderful she is to have already gone back to working.
A short day-time event such as this seems fine to me, however the trip to London got me thinking.
Her little daughter is just about two months old and I know that a lot of mothers go back to work at this point if not earlier, but she is in a position in which she could have delayed it without any problems concerning her work place. She is not really employed, is she now?
And her baby daughter suffered from a severe viral and bacterial infection of the lungs not too long ago. Of course she is now recovered and in the best of care, still breastfeeding is about the best a mother can do. And we know now, that it helps boost the immune system of infants like no formula can ever hope for.
I know, that if my baby has had a bout so serious with her tiny immune system, at a time where most babies are actually protected by what is commonly known as the "nest protection" (small children under thhe age of 6-9 month should be protected by their mothers immune system thru breastmilk) I would try to breastfeed as long as possible and do pumping and feeding thru bottle (likely supplemented with formula) only on very rare and very important occasions. Esp. since Maxima can afford that.
(Pumping is good, however the nutrients and important immune boosters suffer a lot from freezing and storing)

Well, I think that there's nothing special about Maxima going back to work again. Dutch maternity leave is just 16 weeks and she's had about 14 weeks of it. That's merely because she did not take the 6 weeks you have before birth, so for me there's nothing extraordinary about Max getting back to work. Every Dutch woman gets back to work after this period of time...

I know about the maternity leave but I think that many mothers go back to work because they don't have much of a choice. Either go back, or loose your job, position and the often much needed income.
Maxima however is in the lucky position to say: "hey baby needs me, I am taking another 2 months or so off" or at least with only short leaves, such as those probably short daytime events, for which she might only miss one or maybe two feedings.
the trip to London however was most likely very time consuming even considering the fact that planes will be there for her convenience.

Fairy: yeah I know she's in a different position and in a way you're right of course. But in the end the Dutch (as much as they love their royals) don't want to hear about them having privileges. The first year after their marriage Wax and Max didn't work enough according to the Dutch people and they got negative press about it. So they increased their work schedule and now everybody is on cloud 9. And in a way I can understand that she's eager to say 'yes' to an event in which she can use her banking expertise instead of cutting another ribbon (which must be tiresome when you're quite a smart lady). And with the summer coming up she'll have more than enough time for her girls, the DRF normally doesn't work in july and august. But in the end it isn't a pretty system, I agree. It's a difficult game between having privileges, but also living a public life and people having all kinds of opinions about you. If you stay at home, they'll complain that you don't work enough. If you don't stay home they say you should stay with your kids. No way I could live this life, but it still is interesting to see how others do it... Champagne
