Rama and Koi are also making a documentary about doing charity work at the Central Women's Correctional Prison at Lat Yao. Fun fact, this is the same prison that Rama imprisoned Koi in for 10 months after she angered him.

And boy wasn't she happy and all smiles to be back? And busy beautifying the formerly drab environment? In her bright but pale-ish yellow t-shirt and light grey sports pants. And since she is royal (and I am not!) she can totally work in this mudhole and stay fresh as a daisy...

Let's check in with the brave and creative pro democracy protesters, shall we?

Law 112 is the Lese Majeste law, in which insulting Rama or one of his women is subject to a prison sentence of 3-10 years and is used to shut down even the most justified criticism of the monarchy. #ยกเลิกม112 is being used as a protest hashtag on social media and in graffiti

65 year old Ancheen Preelert has been sentenced to 43 years in prison for insulting the monarchy by sharing some critical Facebook posts back in 2014-15. She would have been sentenced to 87 years if she hadn't pleaded guilty. Ridiculous. The Thai courts seem to be digging up historic lese majeste cases because if you lock up enough aunties, people will probably ignore the corruption, excess and incompetence of Thailand's monarchy and military junta.

So as well as throwing aunties that he doesn't know into prison for the rest of their lives because they shared facebook posts, the King allegedly attacked his own sister:

I think they're real. I must say I can't blame them. It seems to be a Thai and many of them certainly live in a bubble. Imagine you living there with a mad king/dictator and the TV etc.constantly tells you to worship said king...after a while you really start believing it. It's simply psychology (brainwashing)

Thailand opposition leader sued after criticism of vaccination policy

In Thailand, an opposition leader has been charged with defamation of the monarchy. That happened two days after he criticized the vaccination strategy against the corona virus on Facebook.

Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit said at the time that the government relies too much on the company that produces the vaccines. That company is owned by King Vajiralongkorn.

"Thanathorn has distorted facts and sparked misunderstandings among the people," said a close associate of Prime Minister Prayuth. "He has dishonored the monarchy, that has upset people who love the monarchy." The prime minister threatens to prosecute anyone who criticizes the vaccination strategy with "distorted" information.

Previous conviction
Thanathorn has not yet responded to the charges. His movement, the Progressive Movement, says there is no defamation or insult. "It is clear that the law article on lese majesty is again being used as a political tool."

The Political Movement was founded last year after Thanathorn's political party was dissolved by a court. Thanathorn himself is not allowed to hold a ministerial post or other political office for ten years. The new charge could put him in prison for between 3 and 15 years.

Yesterday, a former official was sentenced to 43 years in prison for insulting the king. The approximately 65-year-old woman had been guilty of lese majesty 29 times in audio messages on Facebook and YouTube, according to the court. Initially, the court wanted to give her 87 years. Because she confessed, the sentence was cut in half.

Villa in Germany
The monarchy was untouchable in Thailand for a long time. In the past year, a reform movement was launched, partly due to the accession to the throne in 2018 of King Vajiralongkorn, also known as Rama X. Stimulated by Thanathorn, especially young people took to the streets.

The new king took over more power, correspondent Annemarie Kas said last year. "He has placed two units of the army under his control and can decide himself on the finances of the royal family."

But what bothers the Thai most is that the king spends most of his time in a villa in Germany. "He mainly stays there and is not often in Thailand. That does not seem very involved, according to the protesters."
