Official TeaSpoon of Royal Dish. Aka TrollSpoon.

It's still, IMO only of course, a poorly chosen turn of phrase IMO and doesn't reflect well on the board.
There is a sub-culture that sees Asians as all looking the same. That comment, accidentally it appears, taps into that.

Yes, the Princess has nondescript, almost generic, Asian features. Not very attractive nor memorable ... but she doesn't need to be to be happy. She has many perks to overcome her looks. I think that she dresses to her advantage. Her clothes are carefully chosen and she looked fantastic in the long white outfit. I like that she chooses monotones; they suit her short stature well. Excuse me?! You might want to stop with your racism there. Not at all okay. How absolutely offensive.

Yes, the Princess has nondescript, almost generic, Asian features. Not very attractive nor memorable ... but she doesn't need to be to be happy. Say what???!!!! As one of those generic Asians, I'm offended by this! This was not at all meant to offend, Fragrance78. I'm sorry that it offended you in any way. The Thai Princess is Asian so to call her Asian is just stating the fact, it's not offensive. I see her as very homely, home brand, generic in looks. If she were in a crowd of people in her native country I would not say that she would stand out for her gorgeous looks, unique features, wonderful statue etc... She is mediocre in looks to me. Had she been Caucasian I might have said 'generic Caucasian' (I think Prince Frederik looks almost generic in a Caucasian sense - mousy hair, pale eyes, not tall, not angular, not outstanding amongst his 'race'. And calling him Caucasian would also not be offensive.) I look quite generic Caucasian myself - not stunning nor unusual in any way. (Though, my mother has an Asian ancestor and I am not a racist..) Do I think that Asians can be absolutely beautiful? - yes, of course. But she is not one of them. Do I think that looks matter in a person's right to be happy? No ... And that is what I inferred. I totally agree, and I wasn't chocked as I understood perfectly what Cloaked wanted to say. I find "generic" just fine, a synonym of "average" or not outstanding. "Generic" doesn't mean "genetic", but one of many... Cloaked wanted to say that she looks like any John (Jane ?) Doe in Asian streets. And yes she looks mediocre. A hint : with a simple outfit, less make up, at a charity work, she would look great ! To me it smacks of something that I've heard racist European-Americans say about Asians. They don't all look alike Generic does not mean one of many. It means "nondescript" or "nonspecific". Saying someone looks generic is really cruel, IMO. If someone doesn't find a person remarkable in their looks, then a nicer way to say it is that they are neither beautiful nor ugly. Because of a sad history of Asians being discriminated against by westerners on the basis of racial characteristics, it's alarming to me to see the term "Asian" being used as a way to explain why someone doesn't find another person attractive.

From a Thai paper: BANGKOK, 1 August 2014 - Her Royal Highness Princess Srirasm, the royal consort to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, on Thursday (July 31) observed the operations of the Senanarong Camp Hospital of the Fourth Army Area, in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province.
The Princess, in her capacity as the director of the Family Medicine Office of the Medical Department, Royal Thai Army, paid the visit to the hospital in order to give moral support to soldiers amputated by fighting in the suppression of insurgency in the southernmost part of Thailand. The visit also allowed the Princess to collect data and information on family medicine for use in her planning of assistance to military personnel stationed in the three restive southern border provinces.
The princess also expected to use the experience gained from the visit in planning medical care and rehabilitation for soldiers and members of the public in other parts of the country. http://www.pattayamail.co...0080#sthash.js0Ul1pj.dpuf

http://www.hellomagazine....fes-family-of-royal-name/Thailand's Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn is set to divorce his wife Princess Srirasmi Akrapongpreecha, according to reports. The BBC reports that the prince has has asked the government to strip his wife's family of their royally bestowed name, a move that is thought to be the first step in the couple's official separation.

He has three more boys with his previous wife, but (if I'm not mistaken) their mother and the prince married without his parents' consent

I doubt that they will be restored to their place in succession. We'll just have to see what happens.
