Not that Fred is a stabilising force, but I think Mary will take his absence as some sort of permission to put on the crazy, as she is wont to do, and really embarrass Nik or his bride. Keep her away from the ouzo or I reckon there could be a microphone grab at the reception with all sorts of "I knew him before you did, sweetie, good luck if you lose that itty bitty ring in all that chest hair, and, hey, you're welcome!" speeches.
You just know the poor Schackenborgs are already planning how to manage the quick "Mary, may I see you in the ladies room?" kind of exit plans once madam releases her psychosis on the assembly.

That was Berleburg cousin Prince Philip of Hesse who is now married and a father. I doubt he would be at the wedding, but you never know. After that guy didn't work out, Mary seemed to lose faith in Amber's ability to snag a prince and loaded her up with the caterer's son at Freddles' 40th birthday party.  |
