BB says that 2009 has been the Princess Marie year. She was lucky as a mother and very calm in her new role of princess, that has characterized Marie.

Many events of Princess Marie in 2009 were first time experiences and in this year we have seen many happy beginings. A happy pregnancy, a successful birth of a healthy and handsome child. Besides the role of mother, Marie has also found a good balance of being a princess of Denmark, and she performs with more confidence and naturally within her surroundings.

The year has also presented at many official functions outside the country. With Prince Joachim at her side, Marie has been entrusted with several of her father-in-law's patronages, as that Prince Henry has stepped down to work. One of the year's highlights was when Marie and Joachim took the little Prince Henrik with down to Marie's beloved grandmother in France, which unfortunately was not able  to participate in child baptism Møgeltønder.

Well, we know of just one - maybe she'll take over more, or BB is just blabbing as always.

She had a baby and has been on maternity leave. Expecting her to work this year is IMO not realistic.

Yeah, well - that's just how it is in Denmark. All women has the right to maternity leave. Also - since when is having a newborn NOT work Huh?

sure It's work but she isn't doing It alone
as for the maternity leave would It really be so difficult to add more causes? with what the tops 3 hours she might need to "work" to each event?
I think she is using her privilege in a smelly kind of way It might be kosher but she is not living the life of the every Danish woman the one who do take care of the baby, prepare food, do shopping, cleaning the house
so no I don't think she deserves such the same right cause she doesn't live under the same standards and no one would gets hurt If she'll "work" more

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but only the mother nurses the baby. Most women in Denmark breastfeed and that's one on the reasons all women have the right to maternity leave. No one knows how their life with Henrik was for the first months so I don't think we can judge whether or not she could have worked "full time" royal style or not. She seems to clearly enjoy motherhood quite a bit so I for one am not going to jugde her for being lazy this year. She has had the privilege of spending much of the first year in her childs life at home with him - good for her. I think most women would love that. Most Danish women have the same privilege - of course they have to take of a lot of pratical things too which Marie doesn't, but that sort of comes with being a royal and is an other discussion. Just because she's a royal she certainly shouldn't be robbed of the same possibilities for maternity leave as all other women in Danmark has.

Didn't we have this discussion on Marie's maternity leave before? I swear we did  Blink

As last year was about being pregnant and settling into her new position, wouldn't it be better to be judging her on what she does/doesnt do properly NOW in this upcoming year?

She's the second son's wife, she's not going to be allowed to outshine Mary. The family's learnt from Alex that's not going to work in allowing the second D-I-L to do more than the *icon*  Dead despite the fact that if they did, perhaps maybe she'd buckle down and start working instead of doing the crap they've allowed her to do to disgrace what the Crown Princess should have been.

Marie said she was there to support her husband and that's what she's doing, he's eased her in gently and hopefully over time, she'll be allowed to do things of substance as she finds what she wants to be championing as a Princess?

Yes, we have had the dicussion before. I am perfectly ready to accept that Marie will be another lazy and sluurping addition to the DRF but I think it's unfair to judge her at this moment - just like I think one has to remember her position. No way is she going to be allowed to outshine Mary in any way. I guess it's a shame she can't be banned from speaking as she already putting Mary's Danish in a bad light Spiteful
