The Dutch gossip magazines suggest that the friendship of Mabel (45) and our (single) prime minister Mark Rutte (46) has intensified.

That would be the (normal) case yes. Except if she marries another HRH.... Wink Smiley

HRH or not but the I'm pretty sure Bea would keep Mabel as part of her close family since her son is passed away after all and they seemed to be very happy couple together until his death, also Mabel is the mother of her son's children.

Thanks Principessa and Galuh, I agree she will be looked after by the Royal Family
when and if she remarries. I think it's still too soon to talk of her dating and the
children should be taken into consideration here and their feelings. It will take time.
So I hope the media don't start with any silly rumours.

They would make a nice couple and she deserves to be happy, because she has been through enough already.
I am sure Beatrix would take good care of her, even if she loses the title, she would still be a big part of the family. I like Mabel a lot, I think she is very smart adn down to earth, and I hope she has a nice, happy and peaceful life!

I think Beatrix fully appreciates the value of a good marriage. She knows that widowhood can be very hard. I think if Mabel found a decent new partner, she would not mind at all.

Ah, yes, she wouldn't.
Though one might seriously reconsider calling our current Prime Minister a 'decent partner'. JMO.

Yes, she is a princess thru marriage and not in her own right. So if she marries again, she would lose the status that had come with that first marriage.

I would be surprised if she did not marry again and she seems to have been always drawn towards powerful and prestigious men so I imagine that is what she will go for again. Also Friso  while he only recently passed away was in a coma for the previous year so she may feel she has already been widowed for some time.
The family seems so close that I think she will always be a part of it and I am sure they would wish her well in finding happiness again.
