I would be surprised if she did not marry again and she seems to have been always drawn towards powerful and prestigious men so I imagine that is what she will go for again. Also Friso  while he only recently passed away was in a coma for the previous year so she may feel she has already been widowed for some time.
The family seems so close that I think she will always be a part of it and I am sure they would wish her well in finding happiness again.

Couldn't agree with you more! Smiley
Also, the dutch prime minister (don't know much about him) but I kind of think he does resemble, just a little bit, Friso.

I have the feeling that she has someone in her life so soon after he passed away. I don't judge and don't judge me, please, but I could NOT have an affair so soon after my beloved prince  Wink charming has died.

Yes, but I have this negative vibe about her : because she "caught" a prime minister, she's ready for another union... Is she so interesting and attractive ? Isn't she another MM with souspicious connections in the past and a manipulative personality ?

She's in an altogether different league than MM. Mabel is actually very intelligent, had very high grades in grammar school (my cousin was one of her classmates), studied hard and well (economics and political science, cum laude (honours)), and got into high level internships and jobs right away. And she's always had a certain knack in choosing her boyfriends. Wouldn't exactly call her manipulative, just a power woman with incredible focus and ambition.

I actually think Rutte is dumb as f*ck compared to her, and not near as powerful/successful/internationally respected enough - his first government coalition cabinet lasted hardly 2 years (term = 4 years) and his second is a coalition that's far fetched (lib dems with socialists, whereas the lib dems cursed the socialists for ages) and not quite as effective as one would hope. IMO he's not a strong statesman compared to the Prime Ministers we've had in recent times, but he's probably the best the Dutch can get now - and deserve I guess - but I'm still kind of relieved he's the PM and not nutter Wilders... (and that's as far as I'll talk politics in this thread!)

So if and when, it's Rutte who should jump for joy that he's caught a former princess, not the other way around. JMVHO of course

I get the impression that Mabel is a real "force of nature": fiercely smart, ambitious, and full of life. I think all 3 of "Bee's boys" married women like this, and I give them (and TheBee) credit for it. They chose well--not only for themselves, but also for their country. What a shame that some other princes didn't do the same (yes, Frodo, Haakon, and Seabiscuit, I'm pointing at YOU Dead)

In the case of the BRF I have the feeling that they're still reeling from the forces of nature that blew in during the past decades aka Hurricances Margret, Diana, and Sarah. It would not surprise me at all that the royals are encouraged to find partners that will fit the "supportive" role.

Bea's boys seem to have all chosen a girl just like mom. I don't think that Margrethe would want to share the spotlight with anyone who would be too dynamic so Alexandra was a bit of a puzzle.

Yes Agree on all accounts.
And in a way that does puzzle me, since quite frankly I would not have pegged neither Wimlex nor Friso for the sharpest knives in the drawer. But while their royal status might have been enough to attract those highly energetic power-women, would it be enough to keep them? Even to the extent that they seem to be happy? Confused So there must be something more to the dutchboys that I haven't seen.....
But in any way, I think Mabel will go for another high profile relship. Yet I am with Pomme, Rutte does not seem to play in her league. I am guessing it will be some international power player.

Friso is/was in fact the smartest of the three: he studied at the technical university in Delft (Aerotechnics and Space technics (no clue what they're properly called in English) and got a third degree from Rotterdam University in business economics. So on the same level smartnesswise as Mabel IMO. Being a HRH probably helped him landing the high-level jobs he got, but if he hadn't had the intellectual and technical ability, he'd have been promoted into some no-harm niche.

Constantijn studied law in Leiden, is a smart one, too, and Wax read History at the same university, both graduated. Wax isn't book-smart, but he does make up for that by being people smart. I guess  Wink

Oh, and are you guys aware of the fact that Laurentien is the daughter of a former cabinet minister and study chum of The Bee's? Laurens-Jan Brinhorst served several terms as junior minister and minister.

A star for you Pomme, I agree completely. Mabel is vastly Rutte's intellectual superior. I think Bea would be a bit surprised if Mabel chose Rutte to be her sons successor.

I think, it depends. In my direct surroundings a middle aged widow and widower have found each other. She had been a widow for several years (still grieving for her deceased husband). While he had just been a widower for a year or so (or even less). He had lost his dear and beloved wife after a short and heavy illness. His daughter has introduced them to each other and was really happy when they had that click Smiley  Their children (of both the widow and widower) were fine with it and happy for them (in ratio). But other familymembers were irritated etc. that the widower had a new relationship shortly after his wifes death.

Who are we to judge?
