Wasn't that Sculptures by the Sea, or is that part of the Sea Festival?

Mary did look particularly stupid that day. It's hard for her to feign the slightest interest in art.

The festival seems to be every other year, and on the festival site it says that she was the protector in 2010, and they hope she will do it again for 2012.

"H.K.H. Prinsesse Marie var protektor for Vadehavsfestival 2010, og det er en forhåbning, at prinsessen ønsker at genoptage protektoratet i 2012."

Marie has a new patronage underneath her belt. She is officially the patron of the AIDS foundation in Denmark.

H.R.H Princess Marie patron of AIDS Foundation
- As patron Princess Marie can help to focus on those areas, AIDS Foundation works with. We are very grateful that the Princess has chosen to back up our efforts to combat a disease that is still shrouded in taboo and which cost 1.8 million. lives each year, says Henriette Laursen, director of AIDS Foundation.

In Denmark framework prejudices still tough and many people with HIV do not dare tell those closest to the disease.
- I hope the patronage that could help to break down the prejudices that make many people with HIV live in loneliness and fear of others' reactions. At the same time I want to support the AIDS Foundation's focus on research in medicine that can help future generations to grow up without HIV and AIDS, said Princess Marie.

another patronage under her belt  Thumb up

THE NEATA FESTIVAL

The Festival will be held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Marie.

The NEATA Festival is a 5-day theatre festival where about 200 theatre people from the Nordic countries, the Baltic countries and from the rest of Europe meet for 5 intensive days of theatre performances, workshops and qualified theatre discussions. The NEATA Youth Nordic-Baltic theatre workshop for young people is subsidized by Nordic Culture Fund and DUF - The Danish Youth Council.

The NEATA Festival is held in a new NEATA country every second year. The VI. Official NEATA Festival took place in Akureyri, Iceland in August 2010, where the President of Iceland Mr. Olafur Grimsson was opening the festival wishing the participants from all the different countries welcome.    foto

In Sønderborg there will be theatre productions from each of the Nordic and Baltic countries and two productions from the rest of Europe. All in all 12 theatre groups will be playing at the festival. All the performances will be discussed in the festival colloquia and the theatre groups will get the opportunity to share their work methods and work processes with the other participating groups. The festival colloquia wil be led by professional theatre people.

Three workshops will be held at the festival led by highly qualified international professional theatre teachers,

In connection with the Festival there will be two parallel events:

Before and alongside the festival a theatre workshop for young people from the Nordic and Baltic countries – the NEATA Youth – is organised. This workshop is planned to end up in a performance that will be shown at the Festival as a part of the Festival programme.
(Read more in separate article)

As a special side event to the Festival a Nordic-Baltic symposium about digital lighting and scenc design is held. All about the new possibilities arising with the digital development giving theatre groups with limited economic resources new possibilities to produce and exchange audio-visual expressions.

July 2011 : Princess Marie was named patron for People's Church Emergency DANCHURCHAID, or Folkekirkens Nødhjælp

Marie's trip to Cambodia, Oct. 9-12

Marie will, as patron, together with General Stubkjær and its local employees, visit some of DanChurchAid projects in Cambodia from October 9-12, 2012. The princess will have the opportunity to see a shelter for women, a training center for street children and studying activities to improve the living conditions of poor villagers.

DanChurchAid has been working in Cambodia since the early 1980s, initially to help refugees from the civil war. From the early 1990s the focus has been on building a strong civil society and preventive action in relation to drought and floods.

I'm also fairly sure that we won't hear about "masturbating Cambodians" Tongue
