Glad it's ```just'' a UTI. They can sneak up very rapidly on elders and often bring some confusion with them. But generally good hydration and a hit of antibiotics can clear them up right away.

A UTI can be very serious if left un-treated or is treated too late. The fact that she's in hospital means she needs IV antibiotics so it's at least somewhat serious.
If it wasn't serious, she would've been sent home with a prescription.
With the elderly, UTIs can become frequent.
