the BFR seems to look alike very much, when you look at comparisons from Harry & Wills and his forefathers, but then the genes of British, German and Russian emperors were spread all over the place in Europe's kingdoms and these guys all look alike for me

Nicholas II, Emperor and Autocrat of All the Russias

King George V (1910-1936) King of England, United Kingdom of Great Britain.

King George V (right) with his first cousin Tsar Nicholas II (their mothers - Queen Alexandra of the United Kingdom and Empress Maria Fyodorovna of Russia - were sisters). Berlin, 1913

Here are the 3 cousins

No wonder, girls - look at this

Thanks PeDe! It's amazing how much King George V and his first cousin Tsar Nicholas II (their mothers - Queen Alexandra of the United Kingdom and Empress Maria Fyodorovna of Russia - were sisters) resemble each other.  Wow, that coupled cousin site is very interesting. Even for their times, I've always found the uncle/nice marriages more disturbing than the cousin coupling.

You are welcome, Bystander, I find it amazing as well, because naturally first cousins do not have to look alike, but George and Nicholas look like twins in some pics.

I find it hilarous, what the writer of the blog mentions: The three cousins bore a striking resemblance to each other, and occasionally posed for portraits in each otherís uniforms.

In the first photo, Nicky and George pose in their own uniforms

In the second picture, Willy wears Nickyís Russian Imperial attire and Nicky wears Willyís smashing uniform with its spiked helmet.

Wilhelm II biographie:
Wilhelm was born on 27 January 1859 in Berlin to Prince Frederick William of Prussia (the future Frederick III) and his wife, Victoria, Princess Royal of England. He was the first grandchild of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom, placing him sixth in the British line of succession. More importantly, as the son of the Crown Prince of Prussia, Wilhelm was (from 1861) the second in the line of succession to Prussia, and also, after 1871, to the German Empire, which, according to the constitution of the German Empire, was ruled by the Prussian King. As with most Victorian era royalty, he was related to many of Europe's royal families. He was the first cousin of George V and Maud of Wales.

Divine miss: Chuck is heading towards the big 65, Anne is 60, Andrew is 50 and little Eddie is in his mid 40's.
Don't mean to be a spoiler, but at what point in time do you expect someone to grow into looks? As much as I hate to say it, they are all past their prime. though Chuck has indeed prooved to be a better looking elder gentleman than a young dasher.
About JC, he was a good looking chap, his son looks quite like him: tall, slim and (if I may borrow a danish expression:) sportif...

Oh Fairy -  Iknow I was trying to be polite!! Is it really too much to ask for a handsome prince?Huh?

The resemblance is canning, however with the fashion of the time, the hairstyles, the beards and of course the uniforms people do resemble each other a lot at least from our point of view today. Added to that the black and white photos make it impossible to see different colourings which help us Caucasians to differentiate faces and appearances. ( Caucasians rely very much on  colouring, which is why for most of us it is so extremely difficult to tell asian or african people apart)

Willy reportedly had quite a penchant for uniforms, he had a Mary-sized wardrobe full of uniforms, both real from the different regiments of his country, those he was a guest officer in (Russia, GB etc), those of neighbouring countries for fun and of course any number of fantasy-uniforms (historical and completely made-up). Some historians say, he like to "share" this hobby and enthusiasm with others by happily and abundant "gifts" for birthdays and occasions.

Akihito was quite a nice looking man, not particularly "manly" to our western standards, but nice.
Michiko seemed to be a very pretty young woman. Hers is a very sad story.... One that probably scared Masako to death and apparently rightfully so...

The one marching haughtily into the church to Zadoc wasn't a Dane, and I am not quite sure but I think it wasn't a man either? It wore a bridal dress, I know, and had balls, gosh I am not sure...... Confused

I may not like royal men, but I love their tradition to wear military uniforms at their weddings. Uniforms help them look more elegant and statuesque. Well, I like men in uniform generally, I won't hide it.
