Alix was only 19 when her oldest son Albert Victor was born and 20 when George came along. So she was qiote a young mother to them.
Another factor that weighed much in her favor is that fashion didn't much distinguish between young women and older mature women. Most often you can tell from the waistline whether the lady in the picture is supposed to be very young or not.
Alexandra was very petite, and she kept her figure all her life.
Actually whenever I look at those pictures, I wonder how those ladies never really look young. They all look mature and middle-agged.

Good lord, he looked terrible. Poor thing, she was probably quite relieved there had been a string of mistresses to keep him occupied.

I read that when he was on his deathbed, he blamed Alexandra for having affairs! Delirium?

To me she looks like a water ghost, or the lady of the lake and he is channeling Princess Leia

You never fail to make me laugh PeDe...
Seriously I wondered if he had a bavarian moment (Yoholodie) or did he put up his payots in a more christian up-do?

Oh, well looking at that poodle-do of the girlie-girls back then is proving equally joyful.
You know I get a kick out of Queen Mary's wigs, she used a silver one for day time events and for gala evenings she had a gold one... (Ahh, i have such a penchant for wigs and helmet-ladies )
