By Jovis, I had to google a pic of Capote and boy aren't you spot on. He looks like her love child....

@PeDe: Poor Mathilde really had a tough time. During her era, money, pedigree and connections ranked way above the beauty requirements for a suitable bride, so to be rejected twice must have been terrible. Esp. considering that there was absolutely nothing else she could have done with her life but marry and have a family.
A lot of brides were tragically lacking in the looks department, but made up for it by being spunky and witty.
So Mathilde must have been lacking that too, or perhaps never had the chance to show her personality?

Very nice pic of her, she looks absolutely regal!
She and Vic of Sweden are, in my opinion, the only ones who can be surrounded by so much gold and still look regal and fabulous instead of cheap and too much.

Lovely, and we need to put this pic in the "Royals in the same outfit" thread, because she very clearly wears the same outfit that Mary the fashionista does. TStsts QEII is a copycat..... Halo

Ahh, splendid is the perfect word.  Star

It occurred to me--maybe the regal and luxurious outfit is to make sure the Canadians know how important they are to her.  I recall reading once about an incident way back many years ago, when the Queen visited Scotland (I think it might even have actually been for her coronation?) and the Scots were insulted because they didn't feel like she was dressed up enough, as if they didn't matter enough to warrant the full Queenly regalia.

Oh, yeah!  It's taken years off  Camilla but made Charles look quite odd.
