The date must be wrong on that photo - in 1867 Olga would have been 16 and I only see a much older woman, or women. More like 1907.

I think it's meant as dates of how long she was a reigning Queen.

Kristallinchen, Your are correct. The given years are how long Olga was the Queen.

Prince William of Denmark was elected King of the Hellenes. How did he choose George for his regnal name?

Was King Constantine I of Greece named after a Constantine in early Greek history?

Most likely named after his maternal grandfather, Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich.

George was one of his middle names, perhaps he thought it the most "king-like" given his descent from King George II of Great Britain.
I find it fascinating he was only 17 when elected as King - how insane that seems now!

I seriously doubt his descent from a British king 100 years removed factored in to it! George is a popular Greek name, and Wilhelm/William is definitely not.

Yes, and I think I've read somewhere? that at Constantine I's birth in 1868, a large crowd outside the palace chanted "Constantine" when the news broke. So the parents went with that 😄.

She was never a reigning queen but a queen consort and then dowager queen or queen consort.
