Could be a final identification of the remaining two bodies who might be Maria & Alexeii Romanov - article has a fascinating insight into Putin:

Putin, the Hay audience heard, believes that there is an arc of Russian history that links the Romanovs to him, and that he is part of a sacred destiny.  ?Putin regards Stalin as a great tsar, he is a great tsar. Asked who the worst tsars were, he said Nicholas II and Gorbachev.?

"Putin, the Hay audience heard, believes that there is an arc of Russian history that links the Romanovs to him, and that he is part of a sacred destiny"

just tried to find anything on russian internet about this, and there is nothing except some z-rated gossip mags with articles that he is concerned to repeat history. the "sacred link" is still a mystery to me

and judging on how much this dude's name was mentioned the whole article is a pr piece for his new book

but i like how he drops some well known (love letters of alex II were discussed for over decade) facts and makes it seem like revelation

I once found scans of them online. I was howling with laughter the entire time. Not only were the texts hilarious but the images were supremely funny as well.

If I wasn't convinced he was actually completely serious about how he was presented in them, I'd say he had a great sense of humour.

Gorbachev was a great man. Stalin was a butcher, and Putin is a dangerous man. It's creepy to view the footage of him posing as a father of the young boy who had his little hand shaken by Reagan in Red Square back in the 80s. Putin was KGB at the time.

I thought Putin had two daughters. I didn't know there is a son as well.

Maybe you're joking and I'm failing to get that. If not, that is the point I'm making as being creepy. He was KGB and was posing as the father of this boy who shook Reagan's hand. Everything was completely fabricated, even around Gorbachev. Putin has no sons.

I'd buy a few for dart practice, I bet it would improve my aim enormously!

re: the Reagan visit, that is really spooky him being that close to Ronnie Ray-gun, especially knowing how the KGB likes to poison people using substances that aren't visible and take days to kill. Scary, scary man.

A Dutch journalist (and writer), Jelle Brandt Corstius, has lived in Russia for several years. He wrote columns, books about it, and created some television series in which he described peculiar items.

A recent series including a description of Russian people, especially young women, who completely idolize Putin. I was surprised with the devotion those people showed and the enormous amount of Putin merchandize.
