I guess she has a bit of osteoporosis going on. She looked quite stooped lately.

Queen Paola had fallen again and broke her hip ( a femoral neck fracture) .
She has been hospitalised at the Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc in Brussels and will undergo surgery.

IMO she may suffer from osteoporosis judging from her latest health troubles

She better watch herself, because falls like that can put you in the grave. A ton of older folks end up passing away within several months of stuff like broken hips. Hope she recovers well.

It's all that smoking she's done for the last fifty years.  Smoking weakens the bones.  Unfortunate.

I'm 47 and fell in September of last year and broke my arm (my first broken bone) and it lead to a partial shoulder replacement with one failed surgery and then followed with a second surgery that was so far successful and it has been a deal changer for me. I can only imagine what it's like to be in her part of the body with a break. And going to therapy and stocking up on calcium and dietary changes. Oy. I pray for Paola in this respect. I will try to get an update on her condition.

There was an 80th birthday party for Paola today at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium.

Looks like the entire family except for Laurent and Maria-Laura were there.  Thinking  Laurent's wife and kids were present.

Looks like Laurent was there after all.  I wonder why he wasn't in the family photo.

All the kids look absolutely miserable in this picture.  Very weird family.

Amadeo and Lili's baby looks like an angry old man in this photo.   Laugh bounce Laughing

Why did they do the party now? I thought her birthday is in September  Thinking and celebrating the birthday before the actual birthday means "bad luck".

Laurent was very late to this event ,Claire and the kids arrived without him and he missed most of the performance hence the empty chair next to Claire:

I read somewhere that they threw it now because this was the only time that most of the family could attend.  I'm not sure why Maria Laura wasn't there.  I know that Astrid's daughter Luisa goes to a Canadian university, so she's free for the summer.

Anybody know why Laurent was late?
