I think the cleaners got sick of it too, hence the revolution.

It's sad but true, Tiger & PixieC.
The cleaners' must have been a very hard job. Add to all this now that many of these "noble" men around the court loved to pee at the corners of the palace.
If we leave the hygiene things aside, it's still one of the most spectacular places one can visit. The pics are amazing!

Thanks ! We'll try to add some pics here ! And I'll go to Versailles (I don't live far) ASAP, to show it to my son ! I'm so silly, that I didn't do it sooner. Well, we xwent once since we came to France, but it was closed, la Galerie des glaces (Mirror's Gallery) have been completly renovated. So we were disapointed, and came back. I sware, the first day of real spring, I'll spent it in Versailles.

I never took a guided tour in Versailles (lucky you Odette!
)
but many of the rooms were also for royal children.
Louis XV had 10 kids, including 7 daughters and only the eldest one got married, the others stayed in Versailles. He also had 7 grandkids by his son, who became orphans quite early.
And other rooms were also reserved for the mistresses
.
Let's go together, if you're not far !
Exactly, some appartments were for the mistresses (ex La Pompadour) and their children (and servants). It was very crowded
