Très beau et si magnifique. Merci beaucoup, Rere, pour affichage de ces belles photos!  Chantilly est un de mes châteaux préférés de tous les temps.

I never took a guided tour in Versailles (lucky you Odette! Thumb up)
but many of the rooms were also for royal children.
Louis XV had 10 kids, including 7 daughters and only the eldest one got married, the others stayed in Versailles. He also had 7 grandkids by his son, who became orphans quite early.
And other rooms were also reserved for the mistresses  Cool.

Let's go together, if you're not far !

Exactly, some appartments were for the mistresses (ex La Pompadour) and their children (and servants). It was very crowded

Thank you Marie! I'm currently living quite far from Versailles (800 km?). But maybe one day we can try to go together?

Thanks for all the photos everyone!  Can you imagine having to mop all those floors/ also, i couldn't help but imagine how cold those rooms must have been in the wintertime, especially the bedrooms. The rooms are magnificent, but I wouldn't won't to live there.

The Palace of Fontainebleau has the Cour du Cheval Blanc.
The Cour du Cheval Blanc is also known as the Courtyard of Farewells.
This name commemorates the leavetaking ceremony at the foot of the staircase in honor of Emperor Napoleon I because Napoleon left Fontainebleau for the Island of Elba in 1814.

The Chateau de Rambouillet is located near Paris, France. It was built and maintained by the d'Angennes family from the 14th to the 17th centuries.

The Chateau de Pierrefonds in Picardy, France was completely restored and altered by architect Viollet-le-Duc in the 19th century to transform it into an imperial residence for Emperor Napoleon III.
