Mathilde is 5'8", which is above average for a woman (except Holland?). Philippe is only a few inches taller, taking into account her high heels, when they are eye to eye.

M&P made some very attractive kids!

The Netherlands has the tallest population in the world. Men are on average 184 cm tall, women 170.6 cm. The tallest 2.5 percent of the population is taller than 198 cm (men) or 184 cm (women). How tall you feel also depends on other factors: how tall are your parents and friends? And does it bother you?

Standard Deviation

There is a spread around the average height, both upwards and downwards. We express this in a standardized measure for spread in the population, the so-called Standard Deviation (SD). 95 percent of the population is between the lines - 2 SD and + 2 SD with its height. For men this is between 170 cm and 198 cm. And for women between 158 cm and 184 cm.

Tall and exceptionally tall

Men and women with a height above the + 2 SD line are called tall. They belong to the 2.5 percent tallest of the Dutch population. We call those who have a length above the +2.5 SD line exceptionally tall. For men this is 204 cm and for women 186 cm.

In my (Dutch) family we are generally tall, both men and women. In the past I belonged to the middle group in the family with my approx. 1.80 meters, even as a woman.

My niece was tall from a young age. To be on the safe side, her parents went to a doctor. Her final height was estimated at 1.85 meters. As a result, it was decided to do nothing at all, since others in the family with this height (or close to it) also do not suffer from it. In the end, she stranded at around 1.80 meters.

My nephews' heights vary somewhat. From almost 1.90 meters to just over 2 meters.
