The Coastguard says they have 500 vessels making this crossing every single day. These ships include 1,000 foot container ships (some carrying dangerous cargos) , as well as Ferries (with up to 2,400-passengers on board,
In addition, their are unpredictable shoals, sandbanks & changing weather conditions. This is a 21-mile journey.
Also, a dragon boat has a flat bottom so it tends to go through the waves rather than over them, meaning their craft could quickly become swamped with water.
The normal paperwork takes about 30days. Without the paperwork they face arrest by the French authorities.
If they get permission from the Coast Guard, I wonder how much it will cost $$$ to re-direct over 500-boats, with Coast Guard Search and Rescue teams standing by in case the "future" Queen of England breaks a nail.
Kate sure has gotten her Media coverage out of this Charity Event. Somehow I doubt this Event will take place.
