Duke Philipp and Duchess Marie Caroline in Bavaria, sister of Sophie of Liechtenstein, are separated because he had an affair with another german noble for years. Though she found out about the affair after it was over she still left him. Shocked

Wow, I saw something on a blog about wedding/engagement/separation in Wurtemburg, but didn't think of these two!  Too bad.

From the beginning of his regency in 1344 up to 1361 Count Eberhard II of Wurttemberg reigned together with his brother Ulrich IV.
Eberhard forced Ulrich to sign a treaty which confirmed the inseparability of Wurttemberg.

I'm confused. Is there more than one Duke of Wurttemberg at the same time? In any case, this certainly looks like an April/October marriage. Oh well, if they're happy . . . .

It's the way they style the members of the house.   Duke Johann of Wurtemburg, vs. the Duke of Wurtemburg.  Wurtemburg was a dukedom before the reshuffle after the Napoleonic wars, and then it was elevated to a kingdom.  After 1918, they reverted to using duke.

Well he is 60 and she is 53, so really not April-October.
