Felipe, Leti: where are you?

I think the state visits to UK and Japan were postponed because at that time the political parties were claiming that it wouldn't make sense for the government to send the King and Queen to state visits with a new government in formation, but then it's almost a year without a government so it would be ridiculous if this kind of situation would affect Spain's diplomatic relationships with other countries. A couple of weeks ago in TVE, I heard they were going to recover their foreign agenda and that includes the postponed state visits  Banana but in the end it's a decision that comes from Moncloa  Roll Eyes
But if our president confirmed that Felipe finally accepted the invitation to come to Portugal for a state visit with Queen Letizia then the government decided not to postpone the visit.  Wink I'm curious to know how this state visit is going to be organized (the protocol) because F&L will be the first guests to make a state visit to Portugal since Marcelo's investiture. President Hollande was going to pay a state visit to Portugal when the tragedy in Nice took place, so he only stayed there for a couple of hours and there wasn't a state dinner in Queluz  Marcelo changed the protocol from day 1 of his presidency and he tends to like a more relaxed protocol so I bet the dress code is going to be a suit for Felipe and a cocktail dress for Leti  Wink

Some news from the State Visit to Portugal in November: on friday, our President presided the inauguration of Joan Mir?'s exhibition in Serralves, Oporto. Our Prime Minister, Ant?nio Costa and Spain's President Rajoy were also there and our President of Republic granted during his speech that King Felipe was going to visit the exhibition during the state visit, so I think we've the first reveal of their itinerary. They're going to be just 40km away from where I live and last time they came to Portugal as Princes of Asturias (in 2012) they came to my home town, so I'm waiting
Some good news for us - Royal Dishers
Last night, Pedro Sanchez, PSOE's secretary general and candidate to the election announced his resignation from the leadership as result of last sunday's terrible results in Galicia and Basque Country's election. During the week, more than half of members of the Central Committee resigned and he got no chance during yesterday's meeting in Madrid. Now there's going to be a team taking the leadership till a new leader is elected for the party. The chances of Rajoy's investiture increased a lot but we're going to need to wait for mid-end of October  Yes
It's very likely that Susana Diaz (President of Andalucia) wins the election for secretary general. Tough times for PSOE: the former Prime Minister Felipe Gonz?lez said he felt deceived by Pedro Sanchez, as he promised he wouldn't try to form an alternative government and that he would allow Rajoy's investiture during a second voting.
God knows what's going to happen in Spain, but by now we all know the political leaders need to form a new government till October 30th, if they don't want a third election in December.

Yup. I read about all that online yesterday. Just read an article in NY Times about Spaniards warming up to life without a government.    3rd election will benefit the PP. I can't imagine PSOE wants another election. They've been losing votes in every election since December and now they're divided. They can't possibly think they'll fare better in another election.

I'm not a fan of Rajoy's. But Spain needs a central government. Otherwise, Catalonia will probably have a "Cexit".

No, no, I wasn't discrediting JC, I was trying to say that things didn't go as expected in Colombia when JC and the rest went to the signing ceremony. Sorry I wasn't clear! Smiley

Update: Felipe is going to receive the political leaders at La Zarzuela between October 24th and October 25th. It's his last chance to try to nominate a candidate for PM before October 31st. It's very likely that we're going to have an investiture "in extremis"  Roll Eyes (all the situation is on PSOE's hands). If there's not a candidate that wins the confidence of the congress, Felipe is going to convoke again general elections for December.

Update
Felipe is going to attend the Iberoamerican Summit in Cartagena, Colombia by the end of the month, even if it's going to coincide with the investiture debate (Casa Real confirmed and TVE made it public today)  Yes I don't know if Leti is going to travel with him because last time in Mexico there was no agenda for the first ladies/consorts because of all the polemic involving Angelica Rivera.

Tonight, F&L are going to be in Barcelona for the award ceremony of Planeta de Novela  Yes

Sadly Letizia won't be going to Cartagena, but at least she'll attend a congress at WHO headquarters in Geneva on Monday.
