Sadly Letizia won't be going to Cartagena, but at least she'll attend a congress at WHO headquarters in Geneva on Monday.
I think the times the consorts and First Ladies accompanied their husbands is already over, or am I wrong? Our new President has a girlfriend but she's not our First Lady - she keeps a private life and career and never appears with him on official function. Rajoy's wife, Elvira, was the one who always loved to attend this kind of events - last time there was not any consort coming from Spain but she joined her husband  Halo This time as there's very likely going to be the debate in the congress I think Elvira is going to stay at Moncloa

I don't think Elvira enjoys the public life much, she and Zapatero's wife have never tried to take a public role as third(?) lady of the kingdom. They seem to enjoy some perks though, like apparently traveling to Mexico Wink

Felipe will visit Saudi Arabia on November 12 - 14. Letizia won't accompany him. This was the state visit that was scheduled and canceled in February due to Spain's political situation. His presence is needed for a Spanish company to close a $2.2 billion dollar contract to build 5 battle ships (?) for SA.

Nuno, F&L are coming to your town! You'll need to file a first-hand report!

Portugal announces trip to Porto Kings of Spain, and Lisbon Gimaraes

The Kings of Spain will visit to Portugal, -specifically to the cities of Porto, Guimaraes and Lisbon, the next 28, 29 and November 30, according to EFE today moved the Portuguese president, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia "will be received in Oporto, will pass through Guimaraes and then go to Lisbon," he said Rebelo de Sousa told EFE after a ceremony held today in Viseu, a city near the coast, in the Central Region From Portugal.

The head of the Portuguese State, which considered it "an honor" this visit, predicted it will be "a great moment for Portugal" in which there will be "brotherhood and approximation of fraternal peoples, friends and neighbors."

"I am very grateful to His Majesty come to Portugal with the Queen," said Rebelo de Sousa, who also wished the new government of Spain "all congratulations on your government".

It Rebelo de Sousa did not disclose further details of the planned agenda of the visit of the Spanish sovereigns to the three lusas cities, although the Kings of Spain could visit Porto's exhibition of Joan Mir?, owned by the Portuguese state, which is exhibited in the House Serralves and was inaugurated on September 30 with the presence of the Prime Minister, then in office, Mariano Rajoy.

In fact, the Minister of Culture of Portugal, Luis Filipe de Castro, who also attended today Viseu, told EFE that "soon, King will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition of paintings by Miro" shows that defined as "A link between Spain and Portugal".

After visiting Porto, the second stop of the official visit will Guimaraes, city in northern Portugal, in the district of Braga, which is considered the cradle of Portugal because here was where he was born and where was crowned in 1139 D. Alfonso Henriques, first king of the Portuguese nation.

The rest of the agenda of the official visit will take place in Lisbon.

I've a friend that will be attending the Serralves event in Oporto. She will be wearing a lot from me there days

I'll try to see if I can go to the events here in Lisbon and take some pictures Cute

Thanks for the info LP  Smiley
In order to see them I need to go to Guimar?es, as Thistle pointed out, but I'm going to try  I'm curious about what they're going to visit in Guimar?es - for now I've just read they're going to have dinner at the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza - https://en.wikipedia.org/..._of_the_Dukes_of_Braganza (I've been there during last summer  ) and previously they're going to attend an iberian summit.  Yes I need to find out where because I bet the Palace is going to be closed  Wink

Nuno, I know from an inside source that an even on Dec 1 was cancelled at the Castle in Guimaraes because the complex is closed for the visit. The Paço of the Dukes of Bragança will be closed from Nov 25-30 because State Protocol, so pretty sure they will stay there and most probably there will be a reception Wink

They're going to stay there? I don't think the Pa?o is in good condition for them to stay there - but I can totally see President Marcelo hosting a dinner there  Smiley - I think it's okay for a dinner (it's a lovely place) but I don't think they're going to stay there - perhaps they're going to close it to public a bit sooner as they probably need to adjust the rooms to host a dinner  Grin

I know that the entire complex (Paço dos Duques and the Castle) will be closed on Nov 30 and Dec 1 because someone important is staying there overnight, and that a lot of arrangements are being done right now for that to happen - that's why the Paço is being close for more days, to accommodate guests and a reception. So, for now, that's the plan Wink
