You're right LP  Smiley They're going to attend the opening of the congress in Puerto Rico on March 15th.
As I said, they're going to host a dinner for President Marcelo next thursday at the Royal Palace  Jumping

Could someone please explain me if the King has special duties in a situation like the current one?
I don't know that much about spanish political sistem  Secret
No, he can only receive the political parties and hear what they have to say...every conversation they have with Felipe is secret but he cannot interfere in the process of finding a candidate. So what he usually does (or what J-C used to do...) is to receive in audience the political parties, and usually when everything was a mere formality, nominate the candidate to the investiture that then presents to a voting at the congress and then there's the investiture ceremony presided by the Royal Family. Nowadays everything is different from the King to the difficulty of the process itself. Felipe received the political parties once in January and purposed Rajoy as a candidate which he immediately refused (because he cannot count with the support of a majority at the congress). Then there was a second round and Felipe nominated Pedro Sanch?z that accepted the invitation and presented to a voting with the support of Ciudadanos. It was not enough and he failed. So, this week, Felipe received the president of the Congress and decided not to call the leaders again in order to let them negotiate - they have two months left to form a government. If it fails, Felipe is going to convoke general elections for june. The only thing he can do by now is to listen and try to approximate the leaders but it's really difficult. He can also purpose another candidate that it's not even a deputy but for now this is a remote option and it's very likely that it's not going to happen.

Thank you Nuno  Star
It must be very frustrating for Felipe and the spanish to not be able to form a goverment. I hope there is no need for new elections and everything stabilizes quickly

Casa del Rey has taken Easter Mass in Palma off the official calendar. Now it's considered a private event. The press has been wringing the hands because there's no official confirmation that F&L and the girls will attend. Finally, many media reported that they'll attend according to "sources." We can see the girls again!  Jumping

Queen Sofia and her sister Irene have been in Marivent several days ago. All the press like to give Sofia credit for "being faithful to Mallorca" (contrary to the Spanx Witch  Whistle) but they never question why Irene has been enjoying a free ride on Spanish tax payers for most of her life.  Angel

I doubt they'll attend. Felipe has one more round of counsultations on 4/25 and 26. If he proposes anyone to form a government, the parliament will vote in the following days. If that candidate doesn't succeed, Felipe will dissolve the parliament and order a new election. I think that deadline is either 5/2 or 5/3. I don't think it'll be received well if he goes out of country to party during a political crisis.

We'll see  Smiley Regarding their previous decisions perhaps they're not going to attend but there already some voices claiming that keeping a such a low key agenda is not helping at all and that some of the events they postponed could have taken place even with a "temporary" government. I really hope there's a decision soon...this is not doing any favors to Spain - but then politics need to grow up and forget about the place they want to be in  Whistle

I think some of the state visits should have taken place, e.g. the Japan/Korea one because it didn't conflict with the consultations schedule. But the last week of April is so full of politics, I doubt it.

At least send Letizia and Sofia or just Leti  I can hear the haters saying Leti does not attend alone because she's not at ease with the royals.

Ha. Now I want Leti to attend alone just to shut up the Spanish Enthusiasts. She can wear the gown she had it made for the UK visit for this.

Ahh, F&L are meeting Javi Fernandez?! I'm so excited for Javi! I met him at Worlds in Boston. He is such a sweetheart. I got a hug.   I am sure he's bursting with pride. He is certainly one of my favorite men's skaters ever.
