Honestly, the RF is lucky he and his family even show up at anything at all, considering how poorly they've been treated. He and Marie seem like team players, even if the team leaders are wretched to them.

Just curious, will Jochaim and Marie move back to Denmark to help with the royal family?  I understand the title situation with their children.  It was done badly, but did make sense.  However, since the crown prince is so young, it seems like it would be a good idea for J and M to work with the king / queen to cover more ground.  I'm honestly quite surprised that this hasn't been done already.  What am I missing?

I remember reading some analysis from Danish royal watchers around the time J&M moved to Paris that the move was the result of Joachim losing a power struggle with Fred. So if Fred and Joachim are on power struggle terms then Fred may not want his brotherís help. Plus I think itís better for Joachim and his family that they all build lives for themselves outside of the royal fold, Christian wonít be young for long and before we know it heíll have a crown princess and children of his own and then where will J&M be if they havenít built up a rewarding life for themselves? Being a minor royal is tough, you gradually slip down the ranks. Joachim will always be a prince of Denmark and heíll always have some small royal duties to do, but I really think itís for his own benefit that he leaves Fred to set up his own court on his own terms. Coming over just to help Fred out would derail Jís own life path. Plus in a bit over a year Isabella will be 18 and she can help out a bit, while still studying and building up her own life path. Sheís higher in the line of succession than Joachim, and her father is king, so it will be her turn to help out. Iím not expecting Fredís younger three to be full time royals with their own apanages but it seems likely that they will do some part time duties with expenses reimbursed the way Benedikteís are, especially Isabella once sheís adult and remains second in line. Eventually sheíll slip down the ranks as well, just like her uncle.

I think itís wrong to call it a power struggle, and especially to describe it as a power struggle with Fred Huh? Fred very obviously wasnít in power at the time either. Marge was.

Marge seems to think of people as chess pieces she can move around as she likes, this is particularly obvious when you look at Joachimís life. He has been a very loyal and obedient son/subject. I donít think itís a coincidence that all this started after Henrik passed away and after his brush with death. I am glad heís putting himself and his family first.

Objectively, Denmark is too small for a larger working royal family. Also Fred is - still Wink - quite lazy. With their schedule Joachim and Marie would be close to biting F&M in the heels concerning workloads. That objectively wouldnít do. It would have been good to make Fred work more but that is seemingly impossible. So Joachim had to go.

Marge and Henrik planned for Joachim to be a farmer and while it was a plan, I donít think it was an especially well thought out plan. So when he threw in the towel - which was a very fair choice IMO - there wasnít much planned for what he could do. In a family that wasnít tight, the aftermath could easily turn ugly and it did. IMO because Marge is unable to help her sons and Fred incredibly selfish. Joachim is probably quite proud - the result is what it is.

Well stated Maria. The closer you look at the larger DRF the more you see the longevity of the dysfunction. It's sad for Fred and Joachim but they are big boys making their own decisions now. Joachim is making solid decisions in the best interest of his family and Fred is possibly still heading to Madrid to be with a woman who is not his wife while *checks notes* also being the head of state of an important Western nation.

Well stated, ladies.  I agreed that Joachim out of the country is the best thing for him and his family.  And he should be pleased with the career path heís going down currently.
