I forgot to add an interesting information about Mette's engagement ring: "Haakon gave Mette-Marit the engagement ring his grandfather King Olav V gave to his Märtha, and his father King Harald V to his Sonja"
Yikes!! I'm not so sure I like that family tradition. No sooner does the heir pick out a bride than his mother's engagement ring is yanked off her finger, cleaned up, and presented to her future daughter-in-law. Sonja's ring was probably still warm when Mette Marit slipped it on. And what did Sonja get to replace it? Something MUCH larger, I hope!
I agree. The thought of having to give away one's engagement ring is terrible. Even if it's for the son's fiancée and future queen. And if I were the fiancée I wouldn't be thrilled to receive a ring which was worn by another woman before, even if it's the future mother-in-law and current queen.
But then ... I love the idea of giving a "family ring" to the bride, an heirloom that is. I think that's something special.
As to the royal engagement rings, I love Letizia's and yes, I love Moshie's
Size-wise I think it alright ... but that's just my personal opinion, I don't like over-the-top jewlery.
The design is simple and I just love rubies
Compared to Alexandra's, I think Mosh's is prettier (mainly because I don't like gold).
