Times are changing and so is Royaldish. What was once a small board for a rather small group of people who more or less all knew each other, it has now become a rather big board with many new members all the time. We are 2 people working on the board and it takes more and more time. While it has had it's ups and downs it has mostly been fun. Lately though it hasn't. For us it seems that the growing interests in the royals from Monaco has been partially the reason for these changes. We have the impression - and it seems many older members do too - that many of those interested in the Monaco royals have brought with them the debate style from other forums and that this style clashes with the way things have been here for a long time. Maybe that's a very biased view - but for sure we have - as moderators - had to deal with a lot of new issues in connection with the Monaco section. It has taken a lot of work and made the board a chore to maintain - just like it's quite frankly boring as none of us are particulary interested in the royals from Monaco. It has been annoying, tedious and also quite sad to see the forum go in a direction we don't like. So now we've had enough. Royaldish is meant to be a fun place. It might still be that for a lot of members but when it's not for us, something has to be done. Thus we will start changing a few (or more than a few, time will tell) things in order to get back the fun and simpleness of the board.

We're starting by closing the Monaco section for a while. Yes, yes - I know that will upset a lot of you, no doubt. It might come back if the mood of the board gets better, it might not. Since many feels that the growth of this particular section is partially to blame, it makes sense to us to see if things will be different when the board is off-line. That's why we are doing it, plain and simple. Many of those posting in the Monaco section are very active and have contributed with a lot of knowledge and pictures and actitvity - thank you for that. Time will tell if Royaldish can be a place where you can discuss the subject again (that is if you wish of course..)

Maria, I've never read the Monaco forum because, frankly, the Monaco royals (well, maybe except for Caroline) don't interest me. But you and Thomas definitely need to make whatever changes you have to so it's not as much work for you. You guys have given so many of us so much enjoyment with RD---we want you to have fun, too!

I for one think this is a good decision on your part Maria and Thomas.  Weed out the potential bad stuff and see if things improve.

I hope this will make things get back on track.
I don't follow the Monaco section myself so I won't miss it. I just think it's a shame it's come to this.

But better close a section than the entire forum!!!  Nerves  No

Take care Thomas&Maria, you're doing an amazing job and have my fullest respect!  Thumb up

yup, I third that as well.

And Marie & Thomas, why not - at least for a while - "closing the doors" for people trying to become new members at RD.

I'm here about 2 years now, and it seems that the "old guard" has had it and posts once in a blue moon. Whilst new and sometimes aggressive posters seem to take over the board.... No

wonderful action Maria and Thomas  Champagne.  That particular thread was hijacked some time ago, and it's all pretty boring stuff.  And if it makes your life easier, it makes the board more fun.   Star Star Star Star Star Star Star Star Star Star Star

Well....i saw this coming.
I hope the Monaco section will be on again sooner.

It's better that than never having it again.

I'm not angry, but i would like to have an explanation: why in that section people can't critize Charlene, but in other sections, Mary, Kate, and others can be hugely critized?
Again, i'm not angry, i would like to have at least an opinion.

Thanks in advance.

I think that it's a shame that it had to come to this, but if it has to be done then by all means. I hope everything gets back to normal soon and thank you for running this wonderful forum, Thomas and Maria  Beer

I respect Maria and Thomas' decision. I would like to thank them that many people, including me, could find the place where they can post their honest opinions and find facts about Monaco royals. I agree that where were some nut at this board. I hope I was not a troublemaker.   Wink I really hope that Monaco section will be back soon, there were a lot of posters who contributed a lot to this section and honestly it was the only place where people interested in Grimaldis could find facts about this family, not just sweet lies cooked by PR and tabloids.

It has nothing to do with the critizism of Charlene. It has to do with the way it's done and the way that those mostly posting in this section has monopolised the discussions. Most of the debate here is actually quite nuanced; few royals here are purely loved or hated even - except for Mary (though there are also those who like her). The discussions in the Monaco sections have not been nuanced in a good while IMO. It doesn't fit into the board.

As blue j said, i hope i wasn't one of the troublemakers there... Confused
Hope to see the section back soon. Thanks for the response!  Wink

Thanks for letting us know why it was closed. It was rather startling to find it missing, but you did say you had been thinking about it for awhile.
