13 Feb 2019Congratulations to everyone who received their honour from The Princess Royal at yesterday's Investiture. They included @stagecoachgroup co-founder, businesswoman, activist and charity campaigner Dame Anne Gloag, who received her Damehood for services to business and philanthropy. Hertfordshire firefighters Wayne Ansell and Simon Best both received The Queen’s Gallantry Medal for their efforts in rescuing 35 elderly residents from a serious fire in a care home in Cheshunt. Amali de Alwis was awarded her MBE for services to Women in Technology. Amali is Chief Executive Officer of @CodeFirstGirls and a mentor for the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council as well as acting as a mentor for start-ups. Amali de Alwis' investiture reminds me of another visionary and humanitarian whose humility, had he lived, would not allow him to claim the same for himself: Randy Pausch. Randy Pausch developed Alice, a coding platform for VR to increase the participation of the girl-child in early computer science. His "Last Lecture" as part of the Carnegie Mellon series of Last lectures by its Academic Staff is always guaranteed to open up the floodgates. I know it's part and parcel of "the job" but given her dedication and work schedule, especially comparing with younger royals, has the Queen ever bestowed an honour for Princess Annein recognition for her hard work, or was the Princess Royal title it? I can't think og another royal family where a member so low down in terms of succession works even as near as hard.

I think it was. She was made Princess Royal in 1987 (aged 37). We may find her more or less friendly but it is a fact that with PA, you get value for money.

She also has the Garter. Only Princess Alexandra and foreign reigning queens have it (of living royal holders besides the monarch and previous English queens consort).

I think it's really neat Anne is involved with all these organizations I wouldn't have even known existed! Haha. Sharing and keeping knowledge of all sorts to pass down generation to generation is always a good thing.

I love Princess Anne because, unlike Meghan Markle, she is down-to-earth and likes, and hangs out with, normal people, not ridiculous celebrities like the Clooneys, who are like caricatures. Can anyone imagine Princess Anne agreeing to go to a private nosh-up costing hundreds of thousands of dollars, and returning on a private jet? And that "no thanks" would be off her own bat, without the need for PR advice.
Speaking of which - why hasn't the Palace appointed someone to manage Meghan Markle and her reputation? Did the Queen know she was going on a party bender in that penthouse? She's a risk to the Royal Family - you only have to re-watch The Crown to pick up on how fragile its reputation can be when the less significant royals go rogue. It isn't just about the people high up in the direct accession line.

I like Anne. She appears to be a no nonsense, hardworking Royal. She doesn't court the media. She just put her head down and gets the job done.
As for Megan. I wouldn't be surprised if she isn't the reason H and M were given Frogmore cottage so the Queens staff at Windsor next door can keep an eye of them and the Queen on the weekends. Megs doesn't listen to anyone from KP or BP. She goes ahead and does as she wants and KP and BP find out about it after the fact once it is to late to change it. Of course this is just my opinion.

Anne's very hard working, well prepared and interested in the people and places she visits, be they charities, business', schools or her military commitments. She's always well dressed without being ostentatious. She truly deserves the tile of Princess Royal. Note she also knows the proper use of gloves . . . . . .

I find Princess Anne to be so admirable. She is a hard working woman, despite her cushy upbringing! Current royals could take some tips from her.

I respect Anne for all of the qualities mentioned and also for not going 'plastic'. But her hairdo starts to look like a helmet.

Anne never gets the press she so deserves - Probably because she's not fond of the press. She always gets it right and deserves so much more credit. They should have sent her to Morocco then we've have seen her actually with the therapy horses doing their job rather than a half-hearted sort of pat on the nose from Sparkles. JMO
