On May 26, 1896, Nicholas II's formal coronation as Tsar of Russia was held in Uspensky Cathedral located within the Kremlin.

The coronations of Nicholas and Alexandra seems like they happened so long ago that it is surprising some of it was captured on movie film.

Pope Leo III crowned Charlemagne emperor of the Romans (Holy Roman Emperor) on Christmas Day, December 25, 800 at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.

King Stephen of England had his coronation on Christmas Day, December 25, 1141 at Canterbury Cathedral. This was the second coronation for Stephen. He had first been crowned King of England on December 26, 1135 at Westminster Abbey.

Edward VII's coronation had to be postponed when he needed emergency surgery for acute appendicitis. Edward had the operation.
The original coronation had been planned for June 26, 1902. Edward was crowned King on Coronation Day on August 9, 1902.

I didn't know this film existed. Certainly there were many similarities to QEII's coronation, but I do think hers appeared to have been better organized than her great grandfather's.

One unintended effect of the postponement of Edward VII's coronation was the departure of the foreign delegations. They did not return for the rescheduled ceremony. These countries were represented by their ambassadors on Coronation Day, August 9, 1902.

One can learn quite a lot from a film like this. For example, the Coronation Coach used by Edward VII is the same vehicle that Queen Elizabeth II used on her Coronation Day.

Henry VI of England had two English coronations. The first was in November 1429 at Westminster Abbey. The second was in October 1470 at St. Paul's Cathedral.
He was crowned King of France as Henry II in 1431.
