In 1536 Bratislava was declared the capital of the Kingdom of Hungary. At the time the city was known as Pressburg. It was where the Kings of Hungary were crowned. It was in St. Martin's Cathedral that ten men were crowned king between 1563 and 1830.
On September 8, 1563, the Crown of St. Stephen was placed on the head of Maximilian II, Holy Roman Emperor.

At the coronation of King George V, the main changes were the words spoken at the actual crowning, which replaced those first used at the Coronation of James II with a translation of the simpler medieval form and the coronation sermon, which had been omitted in 1902.

Queen Victoria of Great Britain's coronation occurred on June 28, 1838. The coronation itself was a five hour event in the stately surroundings of Westminster Abbey. At 79,000 pounds the pageant cost more than double that of Victoria's predecessor, King William IV.

Queen Elizabeth (Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon) of Great Britain had a lot of intricate detail on her 1937 Coronation robe.

The coronation of William III and Mary II of England was the only double coronation in English history. It was the only time two sovereigns were jointly consecrated. In addition, it was the first time the monarch took an oath to uphold the law according to "the Statutes in Parliament agreed on and the Laws and Customs of the Same".
