The coronation ceremony of Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia broke with tradition because the Empress was crowned the same day as the Emperor and not three days later.

The coronation service used for Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain descends directly from that of King Edgar at Bath in 973.

Queen Victoria of Great Britain was crowned on June 28, 1838. The ceremony took five hours and suffered from a lack of rehersal. The coronation ring was painfully forced on her wrong finger. Lord Rolle, an elderly peer, fell down the steps while making his homage to the Queen.

On July 7, 1762, the same day that Tsar Peter III's demise was announced, Catherine II proclaimed that she would be crowned in Moscow in September.
