June 8
Albert and students of the 7th A class of the School of Revoires laid the first plate on the steps of the Solarium "Marine Educational Area Monaco - The Sea Begins Here" (Here begins the sea).
Under the aegis of the Monegasque Association for the Protection of Nature (AMPN) founded in 1975 by Prince Rainier III, these Monegasque school children, assisted by their teacher, managed this year in a participative way this protected area of the maritime coastline ranging from foothills of the Rock at the end of the Rainier III. Their attention focused on pollution due to the large waste abandoned on the land part and most of the time end at sea.

This initiative launched at the beginning of last year, is part of a partnership with the government and received support from the Prince Albert II Foundation.

Through the installation of these plates, children wanted to raise awareness and empower the public not to dump their waste.

June 19
Albert attended this succession from the windows of the Princely Palace.
Due to the Covid-19 crisis, the next generation of the Guard has taken place in recent weeks inside the Palace and without ceremonial: with the agreement of Albert, the carabineros had then clothed their intervention outfit.

This is the first time in its history that the Prince Carabineros Company had not guarded the Palace in great outfit.

During the First World War, the carabineros had mostly been mobilized in the French army, and the Palace Guard had been carried out by Monegasques and retired carabineros in civil outfit.

Tune in every day at the Place du Palais Princely at 11 pm to attend the next generation of the Guard of the Prince Carabiniers Company! As a precautionary measure, wearing masks and physical distancing are mandatory for the public.

June 23
Albert, accompanied by Charlene, their children, attended the festivities of Saint John from the Princely Palace.
At the end of a religious ceremony in the Palatine Chapel, a "batafoegu" (bonfire) was lit on the Place du Palais and La Palladienne animated the festivities.
These festivities took place strictly in accordance with the health rules in force (wearing a mask and physical distancing).

September 9
Albert invited the managers and employees of Orbital Solutions Monaco (OSM), a young Monegasque start-up which earlier this month sent a Monegasque-made nano satellite into space.

Founded and run by Mr. Francesco Bongiovanni, Orbital Solutions Monaco is based in the Fontvieille district and has only a few employees. Mr. Bongiovanni recalled during his speech that this small satellite, barely 10 kilos, now flies above our heads at an altitude of 530 km.

This concentrate of technologies accomplishes a circle of the Earth (revolution) in 90 minutes at a prodigious speed of 28,000 km/h; it collects and transmits climatic and atmospheric data in this orbit considered low by space specialists.

Mr. Bongiovanni also wished to thank the Sovereign Prince for his support and Mr. Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio who brought together the financial and human resources to bring this project to life.

The miniaturization of high technologies offers the possibility for small states and private companies to become full players in the space field formerly reserved only for large nations.

OSM is already working on other satellite projects and intends to build one with the help of Monegasque high school students.
