and what do you think about MM leaving her son with someone else during the first months of her living with Hakkon? Roll Eyes
Just when I thought I'l like her more...
Do you have anymore info on this, not that it would suprise me because I think MM is a golddigger and would have done anything to grab her prince. Haakon must like the ho-bag type, because that's what he got with MM

Well, not everything was properly researched in this ZDF docu serie. And some of the interview partners surely promoted their very own versions. Iīve watched the docu on H&MM, but canīt remember this very statement  Confused
Iīm pretty sure Haakon knew pretty soon, what catch, he had made...a single mother with lots of experiences. But maybe Larzen can say something to that. She knows more about the NRF, than they are self knowing

Iīm thinking, that each of the european 5 (6 with Camilla) crown princesses-by-law has golddigger and attention seeker tendencies. Some more, some less.
And some are prefering the lifestyle over the attention. Iīd say MM belongs to this group. She probably would have been also happy with a wealthy hubby, who would have made it to High Society pages every now and then, who would have had a big mansion, who would have provided several vacations to the Caribbean, to big cities like NYC or London, who would have hired a nanny and who would have allowed her lots of shopping money for clothes, interior design etc. pp. This person also could have been from an other country in Europe.

Me though couldnīt imagine her doing a "Mary"...and marrying a crown prince from the other end of the world. Iīm already doubting, that she would have chosen "neighbour" Freddles (ok, she also wouldnīt have chosen him for the character...to me it seems, she needs strong persons, she can lean on. Persons, who are centered and focused...)
Itīs surely not easy for her, that every norwegian bozo can come and can write a book on her. Norway with its 4.77 mio inhibtants must be researching paradise for them.
But I guess, that she IS from Norway, knows the language (and thanks to a year in OZ she even speaks superb English), the traditions, every damn salmon in the water (ok...ok, Norway isnīt thaaat small  Tongue) gives her a lot of security, that she needs for her job in the limelight.
My conclusion: She loves her 3 children equally and surely has some kind of "Kindergarden teacher talent", she loves her hub for that, what he IS, she needs security (which isnīt surprising with a father like Sven O.  Roll Eyes), but she also knows how to skim the cream from the milk and how to enjoy the sweet sides of life...

Very good post, deserved a point! Thumb up
The ZDF docu in fact stated that MM moved in with Haakon and left her babyboy to live with Grandma.
I have problems condemning or condoning that. Had she not moved in with a new love but simply (as she was also said to do) moved to Oslo to finally get an education start or finish university and get a better base to provide for her baby then nighttime waitressing, then I could not condemn her leaving the baby behind. With Grandma he was much better taken care of then with a overtime working mom.
However, she moved in with the best catch of the country and somehow that smells like, needing time to land the gig without a crying baby...

When they were in London, Haakon rented two flats, one for himself and MM, the other one for Marius and his nanny. Haakon probably had a very hard time playing the role of the boy's father at the beginning. Now he is a father himself, the relation between him and Marius seems a lot warmer now.

Dkaren, that might just sound more terrible as it probably was?! Could it just be that one appartment was too little to host three adults and a baby? Considering that they would have guests that might disturb the nighttime routine of the baby and that the nanny most likely would want a comfortable room herself too?

Wow I've never heard that story before. What I read/heard was that Haakon rented 2 flats but the other one was for the bodyguards. I doubt he would just rent a 1-bedroom flat in London. I know where the flat is located and they rented the upper floors (not sure if its the penthouse) and the upper floor flats have at least 2 bedrooms, if not 3. And fairy, Marius was almost 5 1/2 years old when they stayed in London, hardly a baby with a nighttime routine. Besides, didn't Haakon and MM lived together at a flat in Oslo for almost a year with Marius??

I doubt that Hakon couldn't afford to rent an apartment large enough to accommodate everyone, had he wanted to.  After all, he wasn't a poor graduate student, going to school and trying to support his family at the same time.  If this story is true, I'm inclined to agree with those who say he and MM wanted the independence and privacy of life without a small child hanging around 24/7...nanny or no nanny.

The flat in Oslo was not the only residence for Haakon there, I'm pretty sure he had rooms in the Palace too where he could have privacy when he wanted. The 2-flat in London story came out after Harold mentioned that the couple spent lots of money in London, mainly because of the two flats they rented. I read from Hola that one was for Haakon and MM, the other was for Marius and his nanny. Perhaps the flats they rented were indeed small, but there were plenty of large flats available in London for the whole famly.

I actually think Haakon has been doing quite well. He was relatively young when he got married to MM. It's not easy to get married to a single mother with a child.  My friend has a stepson whose mother ran away with another man, she told me if life started again, she would never consider marrying a man with a child.

Yes! And I'm quite sure that Marius will have some problems growing up.. We will see, I bet that this whole thing (being kind of abandoned by both her mother and Haakon) has left him insecure and .. after all, he IS Mette-Marit's son!  Thinking  Who knows what he will do in future.. Drugs.. unsuitable girlfriends.. or maybe following the path of his late grandfather. I mean the one married to a stripper.. M-M's daddy-o, The Bearded Freak..

Marius may well become a serious problem for the NRF.

Sometimes it is difficult to believe that Haakon and M-M could become King and Queen. M-M is so sloppy and she is not refined at all. Her beauty was ALL she got (she was not well educated, she was not with impeccable past, she did not come from a good family) and now she has lost THAT TOO!  Nono

I think that Haakon may have found M-M's maternity fascinating and appealing. After all, he is kind of like a lost puppy or something. M-M is not older than he is, but she has seen more.. life..  Snare  (hehe, so to speak..) Maybe she represented a mother-figure or something like that..

Haakon seems to be a good father, he sure is a kind man, no doubt of that.

I never really thought that Marius would turn out bad.  I think MM did the best she could and spent as much quality time w/ Marius as possible.

I believe that most parents do their best with their children. But sometimes it is just not enough..
