I have to say that I also have a soft spot for Stephanie.  She was so tomboyish looking as a girl then grew into true beauty.  To me, she epitomized the adage about loving not wisely but too well.

I don't think much of Charlene but I admire Stephanie for taking up for her.  I think Stephanie understands the concept of making bad partner decisions.

Thanks Miss W  Hug  Star
I'd always thought Caroline was the Hereditary Princess, but some time ago I read in another forum that she wasn't, as that wasn't an automatic title and the reigning Prince should officially "give" her the title, I found it was odd.

IMO, her mother's death weighs heavily on her and I think she still carries guilt over that day. Its sad, I feel for her because she should be living on Easy Street with the life she was born into but instead it has been very tragic.  Sad

Miss W, if there was another Prince(a younger brother of Albert, for example), would his children be HSH Prince/Princess of Monaco too, or only the reigning prince's children?

So I got an answer: yes, the children of this brother would have the HSH title.  Smiley

I have always felt for Stephanie. She was utterly messed up with her mothers death.I read a biography of Grace she called Stephanie her'wild child' but I wonder would she have been more held together if Grace had lived.

I think the family was already going to shite before poor Grace died.  Maybe she's lucky did not live to see  what her children have become.

There were issues in the family and Grace and Rainier did not have a happy marriage.  Caroline was going through a major partying phase and Grace was going to move to Paris to chaperon her thus giving G&R the separation they needed but without officially separating.  Steph was always a handful.

I think if Grace were still alive, I do think Albert would have married someone long ago if his mother were around to prod him in that direction.  Grace always wanted Caroline to marry Ernst so that train wreck would have happened anyway.  Stephanie might not have run off with the circus fellow but she would probably stay true to her wild ways.

From what I read, Grace was the disciplinarian in the family, but she could not it seems control her kids. It's a case of too much money too soon with no responsibilities. I don't blame the parents because after a certain point the kids are adults and they are responsible for their own actions. Rainier's family was certainly disfunctional. I think what he liked about Grace was her family and her sense of family. Something he didn't have, and that is what Grace tried to bring to the marriage. It's just such a shame that Albert turned out so poorly. He needs to be homeless on the street for awhile to appreciate all he is throwing away, not to mention the stress he has placed on the citizens of Monaco. JMO
