How many hours or days would it take to tour Alhambra Palace?

Half a day would be fine. But I think admissions nowaddays sell with time windows in which certain parts can be visited. It’s nice in the cooler season, probably less people too.

It has a very interesting story. Several parts were sold into private property. And just recently I was able to see a fantastic wooden cupola ceiling at the Museum for islamic art in Berlin. It used to be part of the Alhambra, was sold in 1870 to a German banker, who took it with him to Berlin had it installed in his home (and even moved it to a new abode!) before donating it to the German Museum.
I had an interesting discussion with someone at the museum on the topic of "should the cupola be returned to Spain?". And while yes I think that it belongs there and I also truly believe that Spain would take very good care of it and open it to the public, I am torn. This guy bought the property belonging to the Alhambra compound from the spanish authorities. He didn't blunder it, didn't steal it. It wasn't even a shady deal, Spain simply sold property there. The banker donated the property back to Spain some years later, took the ceiling and eventually donated that too.
Very difficult....
