it has beautiful gardens and is next to the beach in northern Scotland, it really looked beautiful  (at least on the pics and on google maps). Now I want to go to Scotland and visit some castles instead of sitting at my desk and finishing my thesis

Osborne House, Queen Victoria's summer home. It's on the Isle of Wight and is now run by English Heritage.

Private beach!

FC, you absolutely shared my thoughts! Beer I have visited Osborne House three times cause I was an exchange student at the Isle of Wight in the 80s twice and came back for a short visit last year. It is realy beautiful.

Victorias eldest son gave the castle to the state after his mother died there. I ask myself if later generations regret his decision.

If somebody has the opportunity to visit the castle and the Isle of Wight, I highly recommend it!

I love the interior decor, the garden and the beach.
It would have been the perfect Summer holiday place for Q Victoria and all those children.
Is the beach warm, Royalfan 72?

The decor is more interesting than Buckingham palace, this house should be the official residence of the BRF

Buckingham Palace is not an attractive property, IMO. Ugly and cold, inside and out.

I love BP - it is a real palace - grand and impressive. Osbourne on the other hand is a home, not a palace and so is different - and lovely.

On the banks of the Thames River, Kew Palace was originally known as "the Dutch House".
The Dutch House (Kew House) was used as a backdrop in the 1733 painting Philip Mercier did of Frederick, Prince of Wales and the Prince's sisters.
