A lot of people say that but I’m not familiar with the Thunbergs...will have to research a bit.

Pierre has bought a castle for 4 millions in the South of France, less than 100 km from Monaco.

Da-yum!  I'd love to see the interiors...  I hope he and his wife have classical taste and don't go all Malibu on the furnishings.

Beautiful! Although 4 million seems not very expensive for a castle? On the other hand, it could likely need a LOT of repairs and updating.

$4M USD will get you something really nice, but not always anything particularly special in the San Francisco area. It will be interesting to see how Covid-19 affects real estate prices. In my area, everyone who had something on the market a week or two ago, took it off the market. There are 6 properties for sale in my little suburb and 3 of those are pre-foreclosure/auction. The two are land, and one is an overpriced house.

Did a reserve google image search. It's called Chateau de Beauregard, in Aix-en-Provence, it seems.

The castle is in Mons, in Var department. Mons is 48 km from Draguignan and Cannes, 50 km from Saint-Raphaël and 70 km from Nice. It's a little town between two nature parks : Verdon and Préalpes d'Azur. Absolutely gorgeous places.

The Villeneuve family had been owned the castle since 1470. They can't afford the running and renovation costs anymore.

The Cashiraghi family is loaded. His grandfather and his father made lots and lots of money.

Yes it is kind of spooky from the outside but those French chateaus have interiors that are either very cold and medieval or very pretty with all those Provencal prints and super cozy. I'm sure with their money it will be a showpiece. The gardens are spectacular.
