Queen Noor of Jordan could be hauled before an employment tribunal, as her former head gardener sues for alleged sexual discrimination.

Amanda Hill, who was head gardener at the Queen's sprawling royal estate in Berkshire, claims a male colleague was promoted into her job and she was bullied into resigning.

She also alleges that bosses at Buckhurst Park, in Windsor, locked away her tools as her colleague was given a pay rise and a new job title, allowing him to do her work.

Mrs Hill initially sued the Queen, who is the American-born widow of the late King Hussein of Jordan, but was persuaded by a tribunal judge that the Royal figure was technically not her employer.

She was instead an employee of Panama-based Ambassador Marine Corporation (AMC), which runs the Royal estate in Ascot, Berkshire.

But it has been revealed that Queen Noor, 60, might be called to give evidence during the full hearing next year - possibly by video link.

Mrs Hill claims she was also stripped of her office and computer and important decisions were made without her involvement, a pre-hearing review of the employment tribunal was told on Friday.

She says she originally brought the matter to the Queen’s attention, who she thought was her employer.

But Mrs Hill later agreed to cancel proceedings against the Queen, once accepting that her employer was actually AMC.

The pre-trial review hearing in Reading, Berkshire, heard that Mrs Hill worked at the multi-million former home of the late King Hussein, which his widow still uses when in England.

Mrs Hill said: "I was the head gardener. Danny (Welland) was my groundsman.

"Danny had been given a pay rise and a job description change that enabled him to do my job and was paid a higher salary for doing my job.

"Those were the main issues I brought to the Queen's attention.

"I didn't get a satisfactory response from her," she told the tribunal.

Employment Judge Jessica Hill asked: "How could the Queen give you a satisfactory response when she wasn't your employer, when she was a third party?"

The claimant said that at the time of making the claim she believed Queen Noor was her employer, as her salary was paid by her.

However, after a short break to consider her position, she agreed with the judge and allowed the claim against the Queen to be struck out.

Mrs Hill, who still lives in Ascot, Berkshire, said things began to go wrong last year.

After she made her discovery about Danny Welland she claimed she was bullied and intimidated.

She said she was "turfed out" of her office, she no longer had exclusive use of her computer, the tools were locked away and student workers were taken on without her authorisation.

She also claimed that somebody filled in her holiday allowance on days she had not taken, including weekends, which she did not work.

Danny Welland was also asked to look into Health and Safety matters - which she claimed were her responsibility - and medical absences for her and for him were handled differently.

"When I found out about it (Danny's job) I was told I shouldn't have known anything about his job description change and his pay," she told Judge Hill.

The judge listed the full hearing for May next year.

King Hussein bought the 16-bedroom estate in 1986 and since his death in 1999, Queen Noor has split her time between the English home, Jordan and Washington.
