The people of Fukushima greet His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen at the train station. Their Majesties travelled to Fukushima by the Shinkansen (Bullet Train) from Tokyo today. Their Majesties visited sites affected by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami.

Prayers for the victims at ground zero of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami in Fukushima. Later in the evening, Their Majesties travelled to Kyoto, the ancient capital.

My first negative comment:

I really hope that the photographers caught Jetsun and Jgime coming out of their bow with the Empress.  Empress outranks King/Queen and the Empress is a lot older than they are.  I want bows and I want them DEEP damnit!!!!!!!!

Other than that minor nitpick, looooveeee them.

Wow, two high-profile visits already since their wedding! Miss W, thanks for all the photos!  Star

It seems they are making quite a big splash in Japan, for royals from such a small and remote country. Giving a speech in the parliament, getting a honorary degree etc. State dinner is the norm but these two are not. They also seem to have some Japanese fans already. Jetsun has the look to turn heads, esp. in Japan. Some other thoughts:

- I hope the shrine they visited isn't the one that houses Japan's war criminals from WWII.
- I wonder which language did the empress speak with them. Does the empress speak English? There doesn't seem to be a translator by their sides.
- I love all Jetsum's outfits and she's wearing some really interesting earings. I wish there are more close-ups to see the earings better.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meiji_Shrine

Quote
Meiji Shrine located in Shibuya, Tokyo, is the Shinto shrine that is dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shōken

I´m not sure, on wikis page they doesn´t mention anything with war or soldiers besides that it was destroyed during WWII Thinking

AFAIK the King and Queen doesn´t speak Japanese. From all videosI have seen the are just speaking English. So I assume they also spoke with the Empress in English  Smiley

And one back  Smiley  Star

Day Five November 19, 2011

With Chief Priest Raitei Arima during the couple's visit to Kinkakuji temple in Kyoto, Western Japan

Carve a Buddhist statue at the Gallery of Kyoto Traditional Arts & Crafts in Kyoto, western Japan, on Nov. 19, 2011. The statue is being made using pine wood from Rikuzentakata in Iwate Prefecture, one of the areas hit hard by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan, and about 3,000 people have so far contributed to the carving.

Hello to all, it has been awhile since I posted but I am always reading the posts and giggling, gasping, ejoying the unique insight found here.  I feel compelled to comment on the striking composure of this new Queen. For one so young she appears to have a unique ability to read situations and respond accordingly. The pictures are beautiful and convey a deep respect that the young King and Queen have for their position. I also love the traditional dress worn by them. The Queen is amazing in these intricate and beautifully designed outfits.

Now I never thought this would be said, but these two deserve a little vacation or honeymoon. Smiley

I really enjoy to see footages and photos of their trip. Sadly tomorrow is their last day in Japan.
